New York Will Not Increase Its

Minimum Wage on January 1, 2027

Based upon current law which ties minimum wage increases to inflation with certain “off-ramps” triggering a freeze on an increase, New York’s minimum wage will not increase for 2027. This means that the minimum wage will remain as follows:

  • $17.00 per hour for New York City and Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Counties
  • $16.00 for the remainder of New York State

In light of the minimum wage not increasing for 2027, Governor Hochul has stated she will propose legislation changing the off-ramp provisions, which would allow an inflation-based minimum wage increase later in 2027. Despite this proposed legislation, which we will monitor, employers should continue to maintain the current minimum wage into 2027.
