Meet Nomad Nursing!

Founded by Sabrina Walker, Desiree Shifflett, and Nicole Tompkins, Nomad Nursing is a Virginia-based organization that serves as both a healthcare staffing agency and nursing academy. As a staffing agency, it connects healthcare facilities with skilled nurses, addressing the region's critical need for quality care. In addition, Nomad Nursing operates a nursing academy that provides educational programs to aspiring nurses, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience to succeed in the field.

Nomad Nursing partnered with Rosi Beachy from CVSBDC to expand community connections and secure $10,000 in funding from the Stanardsville Area Revitalization Project and $5000 from the 2024 Quad Tank pitch competition. They credit the SBDC’s guidance for helping Nomad Nursing access crucial grants and growth opportunities. Because of their success in these areas, they have been able to add HR Director Samantha Nichols to their staff! The goal of Phase II is to continue research and development while increasing the focus on commercialization. Value-Added Producer Grants taking applications

‌The Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG) program helps agricultural producers enter value-added activities to generate new products, create and expand marketing opportunities, and increase producer income.

You may receive priority if you are a:

Beginning farmer or rancher.
Veteran farmer or rancher.
Socially-disadvantaged farmer or rancher.
Small or medium-sized farm and ranch structured as a family farm.
Farmer or rancher cooperative.
Proposing a mid-tier value chain.
