CliftonStrengths September Workshops
CliftonStrengths is an online assessment tool used to discover and develop your greatest talents. Operated by Gallup, the well-known global analytics and advice firm, this 177-question assessment measures your natural patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving and categorizes them into the 34 CliftonStrengths themes.

Join our September workshops below:
Best-Ever Team or Group Experience | September 15 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
By looking at past experiences, team members can more effectively determine how their current team can expand its partnerships both within the team and throughout the rest of the organization. The easiest way to talk about how to expand partnerships and teamwork is to first focus on what individuals want, need and expect from others when they start a partnership and become part of a team. Come learn how your talents and strengths can lead to enhanced group success, even with group projects!

Having Difficult Conversations Using CliftonStrengths | September 22 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Throughout our lives, we will be faced with having difficult conversations among our peers, family, friends, and others. While these conversations can be emotional, uncomfortable, and/or controversial, it is the approach and communication style which can have the greatest impact on how others receive and respond to such dialogue. From this workshop, you will be able to identify your personal communication style and reflect upon the connections which may exist between your communication style, natural talents, and approach to difficult conversations. Possessing this kind of self-awareness is the first way to tackle difficult conversations.

Leadership Development
Upcoming One-Time Leadership Workshops
Building Connection and Community on September 23 at 6 p.m.
In a recent survey, 79% of Gen Z respondents reported feeling lonely, isolated, left out and without companionship. In a world where we are more digitally connected than ever, our sense of human and authentic connection is at an all time low. In this workshop, we will explore how leaders can cultivate a sense of community, build connections, and make the world feel a little less lonely.

Presenter: Brian Mathis, M.A., Associate Director, Student Leadership and Engagement

Civic and Community Engagement
Active Citizenry Series Starts This Fall
Before December 6, state legislators will have to redraw our state’s political districts. In North Carolina, redistricting is always a point of political contention, due to legislators drawing maps to better suit their political interests, which is called gerrymandering. This workshop aims to outline the history and context of redistricting, specifically focusing on when redistricting becomes gerrymandering, and how that affects targeted communities. Participants who attend this workshop will learn how gerrymandering can be a tool used to silence the voices of our community, and learn how to recognize when it is actively occurring around them.

Interest for the Alternative Service Break Program
We're excited to begin planning for 2021-2022 Alternative Service Break experiences!

The Alternative Service Break (ASB) program is a unique learning experience in which students engage in direct service to a community while being immersed in the culture. Teams are led by student team-leaders and accompanied by faculty or staff advisors.

Each team spends extensive time prior to travel doing team-building, planning for their experience, and studying the scope of their impact in the communities they will engage with. Throughout their travels, team members participate in a variety of cultural, educational, recreational, and reflective activities to enhance their service experience.
