REGIONAL Cape Cod Climate Action Network (CAN) Meeting

TODAY, Thursday, July 16
6:30-7:30 PM

Calling all Cape Cod climate activists! You are invited to attend, via Zoom, a regional meeting to discuss formation of a Cape Cod Climate Action Network (CapeCAN) and to connect with other climate activists for cross-town updates and information-sharing on developing Climate Action Networks (CANs) and Climate Emergency Declarations across the region.

This project emerges from the Cape Cod Climate Emergency Initiative and the work of local climate action networks (CANS) that have been developing in nearly every Cape Cod community since the beginning of this year.

As a regional chapter of the  Massachusetts Climate Action Network (MCAN) , CapeCAN would support the work of Climate Action Networks on town-by-town, sub-regional and regional bases. Existing and just-forming local CANS would remain independent groups, setting priorities and establishing initiatives and actions as each sees fit.

Organizing under the auspices of the  Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative-- a consortium of organizations and individuals on the Cape & Islands working collaboratively toward a net zero future--a CapeCAN would benefit from the networking, communications and organizational support of this nonprofit dedicated to helping the region reach net zero at the earliest feasible time.

The  attached draft work plan   will form the basis for today's agenda. T opics for discussion will also include how to:
  • Pass the climate emergency declarations at town meetings this fall
  • Support development of networks in all Cape towns
  • Continue to move our towns towards net zero emissions.

We hope to see you at 6:30 today!
