Climate Adaptation Short Course
Recap of Session 1
At our first session of the course, we went over the course goals & schedule, talked through adaptation concepts, and outlined a project that used the Adaptation Workbook to consider climate change.

We also heard a bit more from you on the types of impacts you are seeing or expecting to see in your regions. A few items from session 1:

Course Guidebook
Download the Adaptation Quick Guide
We are using the Adaptation Quick Guide for Land Trusts throughout this course. The guide draws on the five-step Adaptation Workbook process to help you design and implement adaptation actions in your work, with a special eye toward stewardship activities.
Resources to get you started

This article (pg. 25) outlines some general principles of carbon management in forests and grasslands, with an emphasis on how land trusts can promote this value on their properties in conjunction with other goals. Read the article in the Land Trust Alliance's Saving Land magazine.

If you'd like a refresher on the basics of climate change, climate impacts on forests and grasslands, or adaptation responses we'd recommend this series of 15-20 minute self-paced tutorials. They cover these topics with a focus on natural resources management and conservation.

Your regional Climate Hub may have more information on climate impacts and vulnerabilities specific to your area. If you have questions about specific resources, please bring them to next week's session where we'll have additional Climate Hubs staff joining us for discussion.
