Contribute Your Ideas to Our Next Series

Hello Shelterforce,

Climate change and housing are deeply intertwined. Basement apartments flooded during Hurricane Ida. Wildfires displace thousands. We’ve covered these topics before, but we want to dig deeper.

In 2024, Shelterforce will add to our Under the Lens series with a look at how the changing climate, including extreme weather, affects housing.

Here are some of the topics we’re interested in:

• Using the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund to benefit low-income communities.

• Drought and limited water access in Navajo Nation.

• Housing solutions to protect against extreme heat.

• Combating wildfire displacement—in California and beyond.

• EcoDistricts.

Displacement caused by hurricanes and flooding, and solutions to protect renters and homeowners.

If you have worked in any of these areas, know anyone who does, or have experienced the effects of extreme weather on your own housing, please reach out to us by Jan. 23 by emailing l[email protected] and [email protected].

Thank you!
