This year we are going to be completely full, so if you aren't pre-registered, we can't promise you a participant spot. How do you know if you are registered? If you received this email, you are registered to climb. If you didn't receive this email........well then, you aren't registered to climb....
🤔
Please remember that you must have the $100 minimum donation in your fundraising bucket before 05/19. If you do not have the $100 in your bucket, your card on file will be automatically charged at midnight on Sunday the 19th. How do you know if you have the $100 minimum? Go to your participant center (you received an email from Crowdrise about this when you registered). Or, go to
climbforheroes.org
and scroll through the leader board at the bottom of the website to see where you stand. Need help?

A note on the 100 Bucks:
Just to be crystal clear, every single person having at least $100 in their fundraising bucket is different than one person on a team having all of the money and everyone else having none. As smart as computers are, they don't know that your Aunt Sally is raising money for you. Or that your boyfriend, Fabio donated $200 and $100 is for you as your Andrew Jackson lives vivaciously in his bucket. Please make sure that Fabio and Aunt Sally understand that they are making their check-in process easy peasy....and yours not so much. Because you check in by last name, it makes it unusually hard for our volunteer check-in team when your bucket is at $0 and you try to claim Fabio's money as your own. If you run into trouble, please remember that our check-in team is made up of AMAZING volunteers and they are doing their best to understand why Fabio has your money.
What to bring? Where to go? What time to get there? This is a long email with lots of information.....pour something refreshing, kick up your feet and READ ON:
1 - Please arrive for check-in between 7:30 and 10:00am (6:00 am is not 7:30am... we know, you try to start early every year). First hikers will be released to head up the mountain
no sooner than 8:00
am. THE ONLY EXCEPTION
is for
Fastest Badass competitors (racing to the top for bragging rights and a trophy too big to display), you need to arrive no later than 7:00 am for 7:15 am release to charge the summit.
2 - Parking will be $5 per car in the
Mt. Baldy Ski Lift Parking lot
(please bring cash) or park for free on the street by Manker Flats with your Adventure Pass... if you don't know what that is, just bring 5 bucks.
3 - Registration closes on Thursday, May 16th at midnight. Please make sure teammates have registered well before that day....you have a week to get that done. And again, as a reminder, anyone with less than $100 in their fundraising bucket will have their card on file charged on May 19th at midnight. Tell Fabio to give you your money.
4 - After you check in (as a reminder, only registered participants will be allowed into our basecamp) you will enjoy a light breakfast and coffee. There will be water, snacks, and bars for your backpack. If you are a big eater or drinker, we recommend you pack money for The Notch ski lodge restaurant (just before Camp 2). We do not provide water above our basecamp so prepare to load up before you start up.
5 - WEATHER - It is going to be a perfect day for hiking. Expect the weather on the summit to be in the mid 50's with light winds. It will be much warmer at base camp (upper 70's). So make sure you are layering and sunscreening. We will update you with the most accurate weather forecast next week.
6- Tips to make this the best day ever:
- Layer your clothing (non-cotton clothing always recommended)
- Wear hiking boots for extra ankle support if you have them; if not sneakers will be fine
- Sunscreen and Sunglasses
- Trekking poles will make your journey to the summit easier, but are not mandatory
- WATER! Boxed Water will be onsite at basecamp for your hydration needs but we suggest you also bring a reusable bottle for your pack or buy a THP Nalgene at our gear shop upon arrival!!
- Your camera or phone for pics and social media @theheroesproject
- Cash or a credit card for incidentals and to park (cash is preferred) and for the kick ass THP gear shop swag
