Overview: This webinar will focus on the importance of Closed Captioning (CC) and how to provide access to pre-recorded videos utilizing Veed.io and YouTube during virtual learning. The goal of this webinar is for participants to independently include Closed Captions (CC) on pre-recorded videos to accommodate students who are deaf/hard of hearing (HH) and promote equal auditory access within their lessons. Participants will be given access to a live tutorial, question and answer session, and pre-recorded tutorials to begin using these features.
Presenters: Ashley Curtis-Carsey was been teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students for 14 years. She has taught in a self-contained D/HH K-2 classroom in Las Vegas, Nevada and has been an Itinerant Teacher for the Deaf in the Phoenix area before moving back to the Toledo area. Currently, Ashley works as an Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf in Anthony Wayne, Maumee, Springfield, and Bellevue Local School districts. She received her B.S. as a Intervention Specialist with a focus on Deaf/Hard of Hearing from Kent State University and obtained her master’s degree in Integrating Technology with in the Classroom from Walden University.
Ashley Chesnut has been a Teacher of the Deaf/HH for eight years. She earned her Bachelor's in Special Education - Hearing Impairment from Eastern Michigan Universities Auditory-Oral program and her Master's Degree from Bowling Green State University. She taught middle school students who are Deaf/HH in a self-contained classroom in Freeland, Michigan for two years before moving to Ohio. She now works as an Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf/HH for the ESC of Lake Erie West and services students in Genoa, Washington Local, and Oregon City Schools. Ashley is also the Northwest Regional Chairperson for Deaf Education Ohio (DEO).
