Cold War Espionage

Following WWII, the threat of communism and nuclear war caused America to increase security measures. The CIA was created, and that organization, along with the FBI, was at the forefront of America’s approach to espionage in the years immediately following the war. We’ll discuss that approach.


About the presenter: David McNeil has a master's degree in education, and taught Social Studies for more than 30 years. Dave has been a long-time RISE facilitator offering a variety of courses over several disciplines.


This event is done in collaboration with Rivier University's RISE program.

Join pianist Keith Belanger, one of the performers at the popular Front Porch Piano Bar in Ogunquit, Maine, for an entertaining concert of piano bar favorites. Show tunes, standards, pop hits, sing along or listen to the hits of yesteryear. Requests will be taken. Bring your chairs or blankets and a picnic supper if you wish.

This is the place to be on Friday morning. If you love to craft, whether it be quilting, knitting, crocheting, rug making or plastic canvas, you will LOVE this group! Welcome to old friends and new. If you're starting a new skill or brushing up on an old one or even if you just like to sit and chat while pretending to work, this is a judgment-free zone. Bring in that pair of socks you started in 1986 - you can finish them here. Make a new craft and some new friends.

Benson's Hike: Autumn Edition

Join Circulation Librarian and "Outdoor Guy" Dana Benner for an hour hike exploring the trails at Benson's Park. Autumn is a great time of year and you never know what you may find. 


We will meet at the Gorilla Cage at 9:15.

Guitar Improvisation Workshop

Join us for this two-hour workshop on guitar improvisation presented by Neil Santos of The Pentatonic Way https://pentatonicway.com. This event is perfect for the guitarist who feels comfortable playing chords and songs and is now interested in learning the fundamentals of lead guitar. You must bring your own guitar. No music theory or reading music is required.
