Casir dos Santos, started in 1862, if it were in Europe we wouldn't give the date a second thought, but in Argentina 1862 makes this one of the oldest wineries to date in the country.
The vineyard and region is what made us pay attention to this wine before tasting it. We all know great wines are produced in the Agrelo region right outside of Mendoza. The vineyards in the Agrelo region sit at the foothills of the Andes, with an average altitude of around 3000 feet.
The higher off the valley floor the lower the temperature drops at night and the more intense the sun is during that day, meaning a longer growing season which results in a more rounded and structured wine; no in your face fruit bombs are produced here. What we expect from this region is mouthfuls of perfectly balanced pleasure when sourcing wine from this region and that is what we have here today.
The Cabernet we are offering holds great aromatic intensity. Lovely deep red color, with ripe blackberry fruit. The spiciness of the nose is echoed on the palate and combines well with juicy red fruit flavors. Well integrated oak and fine tannins ensures a long and ripe finish.
