Dear Family & Friends,

G.F. and I started Clouds back in 1977 and we never dreamed we would have such a devoted following. In the beginning G.F., potter, knew he wanted to create functional durable pottery. He chose porcelain. I wanted to paint impressionistic artwork. Together we developed our soft matte white glaze as a palette for our pieces. Thus, Clouds Porcelain was born!

Since those early days we have grown and invited other master potters and painters to join our family here at Clouds. These artists are the best of the best in the country. 
 
After forty years of sharing what we love to do, creating functional artwork, we will close our business. We have had a great run and I am ready to retire!!  
 
  
My hope is you will cherish our handmade one-of-a-kind porcelain pottery for  years and pass them on to your children and grandchildren.

WHILE SUPPLIES LAST
How Your Pot "Was" Made 
 
Our pottery is completely 100% handcrafted here in California from beginning to end! Guaranteed!!
 
First, our porcelain clay is custom made for us by Laguna Clay Co. Then, it is shipped to us where our three potters, whom you met in my last email, throw each pot on a potter's wheel. Then, they deliver the pieces to us in bisque form (low fired greenware). At this point, we wax the bottom and any connecting part of each piece. We wax it to keep the glaze from sticking to the pot and ultimately to keep the pot from permanently sticking to the kiln shelf. Once it is glazed with our custom formulated white glaze it is hand painted by our artist with one of our thirty patterns or it is glazed in one of our solid reduction ware glazes. The pots are then ready to be fired in our gas or electric kilns. Finally, if we are lucky and the kiln has cooperated, a beautiful piece of porcelain pottery is pulled from it and is ready for you to purchase!
