Gender Pay Gap
Pew Research Center reports the difference between the earnings of men and women has barely closed in the United States in the past two decades, and there is no single explanation for why progress toward narrowing the pay gap has all but stalled in the 21st century.
The pay gap persists even though women today are more likely than men to graduate from college. In facts, the pay gap between college-educated women and men is not any narrower than the one between women and men who do not have a college degree. This points to other factors that still set women back and give men an advantage.
The findings indicate that more sustained programs in closing the pay gap may depend on deeper changes in societal and cultural norms.
The report covers pay gap increases with age, race and ethnicity, education, economic forces affecting earnings, pay gaps between women and men in different occupations, and other factors.

In 2022, American women typically earned 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. That was about the same as in 2002, when they earned 80 cents to the dollar.

And still, that essential right to vote was kept from women of color even after the 19th Amendment became the law of the land.
