Dear Y members,
Your well-being, health and safety is of utmost importance to us.
In the last week and a half, we have been diligently monitoring the evolution of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, which the World Health Organization has classified as a pandemic. For clarity, defining COVID-19 as a pandemic is merely highlighting its probability for spreading worldwide and not the potency or mortality rate of the virus. The US and the Canadian Governments are also addressing the virus as such.
The Provincial Government has just announced the mandatory closure of all daycares, schools, CEGEPs and universities, as well as municipal public arenas, libraries, skating rinks and swimming pools for at least two weeks. It’s now accepted and understood that in order to flatten the curve of spreading the virus,
is a necessary measure.
It has not been an easy decision to make, but in light of these recent events and in accordance with the recommendations given by the city of Montreal and the province of Quebec, we must do our part to ensure and maintain your safety and the safety of the greater community. We will be closing the Sylvan Adams YM-YWHA as a preventative measure to stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Effective immediately, our facility and all our programs, courses, classes and activities will be closed for the next 14 days. Please rest assured, that as of now, there are NO present cases of COVID-19 at the Y.
Please note that your membership will not be compromised and you will not be penalized by the closure. Additional information is forthcoming. If you have any urgent questions during this time, please don’t hesitate to contact us by email at
