CRE News & Information

CRE Families -
Welcome to August as we continue to prepare for another exciting year at Clover Ridge! We hope this email finds you well and that you are enjoying your summer with family and friends!

We would like to welcome our incoming Kindergarten students and ALL new families to Clover Ridge! We are proud of the collaborative nature and welcoming environment at CRE! Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions that you may have!

Expect to see information on student placement and Back-To-School information coming to your email next week. We have enrolled many new students in the last week and are reviewing staffing information and balancing classes.

Please spread the word that this information is coming and encourage others to check their email. Families not receiving an email should contact the school office at 952.556.6900. We are learning that some school emails from Constant Contact are ending up in junkmail folders. Paper copies are available upon request. We will also post links to this on our Social Media accounts and Website.

We are very excited to welcome your child this school year! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Save the date - Connect & Assess!
This fall, all Kindergarten through 5th grade students will be invited to meet their new teacher and complete a brief learning assessment during a 30-minute Connect & Assess meeting on. Families will find out the name of your child's teacher in early August. At that time, you will also receive information about how to schedule the Connect & Assess appointment for your child(ren) using an online scheduling system. Instructions on how to make an appointment online will be emailed to parents and posted on your school's website in early August.

These Connect & Assess meetings will take place on August 30th and August 31st and will replace the regular "back-to-school night" activity. Daytime and limited evening appointments will be available.

What is Connect & Assess?
  • Students and their parents/guardians will have the opportunity to connect one-on-one with their child's teacher and meet other school staff. This begins a positive school-home relationship.
  • Teachers will assess each student to learn about them as a learner/reader to gather some baseline information to begin personalized instruction as soon as the first day of school. These are not tests of ability or intelligence.
  • Kindergarten students will take early-learning assessments in math and literacy.
  • Grades 1-5 will complete a benchmark reading assessment to determine a child's instructional literacy level.
  • Families can drop off school supplies, pay for lunch, and complete or return school forms during this visit.

Playground Playdate - Wednesday - August 24
Kindergarten and 1st Grade: 4:00-5:00 PM
2nd and 3rd Grade: 5:00 - 6:00 PM
4th and 5th Grade: 6:00 - 7:00 PM

As we welcome new students to Clover Ridge, we wanted to provide an opportunity for kids to gather, introduce themselves to new families, and connect with friends from previous years. The purpose of this event is to assist in the transition for students to Clover Ridge. We would ask that people adhere to the timelines listed above as best as possible due to parking and available space on the playground. Support staff will be available to connect with families.

Please reach out and introduce yourself to new families and connect your child with new students. This is important as we transition new students. Thanks for showing your Clover PRIDE!

Back to School BBQ - August 30: 5:00-7:00 PM
Our PTO is excited about the return of our annual CRE BBQ! Please join us for a fun, community event for your whole family! Hot Dogs and Chips will be served on the plaza with the fields and playground open to reconnect with friends and families. The building will be open for self-guided tours. Classrooms will not be available at this time as Connect and Assess will be happening. Please join us as we kick off the new school year!

Planning ahead to 2022-23 school year
The 2022-23 School Year Calendar is posted on our school's website. Current school start and end times will remain in place when the district welcomes students back on Tuesday, Sept. 6th.

Clover Ridge Supply List
The 2022-23 Clover Ridge School Supply List can be found HERE on our website on the main page.
In addition to individual student supplies, community supplies for the classrooms are needed. Several years ago, our district asked that we remove general supplies from each student's supply list. Unfortunately, this has created a need for additional supplies. These are supplies that teachers use throughout the year. Please consider sending some of the following supplies to your child's homeroom teacher: tissues, Clorox Wipes, paper plates, Zip Lock Bags (gallon/quart/sandwich), plastic utensils, and paper towels. Your participation is completely optional. Thanks for your consideration and generosity.

Clover Ridge T-shirts
Our PTO has generously offered to provide a free Clover Ridge T-Shirt to all new students! This includes all Kindergartners and students new to the building.
Similar t-shirts will be for sale in the school store during building events for those students interested and who have outgrown last year's shirt.
If your shirt is in good condition, but no longer fits, we will be collecting them in the office for students in need.
CRE Apparel will also be available for sale in the school store.
Show your CRE Pride!

Clover Ridge PTO
We have a very strong and active Parent Teacher Organization at Clover Ridge! They plan fantastic family activities and raise money that directly supports your child's educational experience. Historically, they have financially supported technology initiatives, field trips, personalized learning initiatives, and supplies that teachers couldn't otherwise afford. Your child benefits directly from the work that the PTO does, but it takes the time and talents of parents to make it all possible. Your support and active participation is needed! Please see the attachment HERE for opportunities and areas of interest! We would be happy to get you connected and involved!

Chromebook Insurance
Insurance coverage for your student’s Chromebook
As a courtesy to families, the district provides an optional damage insurance to defray the cost of replacement or repair of district-issued Chromebooks. Without it, families are responsible for the full cost of repairs or replacements. With the insurance plan in place, the first three incidents of repairs or replacements are covered (power adapters are not covered). Effective 5/1/2021, the cost is $20 for coverage from the date of purchase through the summer of 2022 for any district Chromebook your child is using. Learn more about the insurance plan and how to purchase coverage for your child’s Chromebook HERE.

Nutrition Services Update
Pandemic related funding that allowed us to provide breakfast and lunch free of charge to all students has now expired. For the 22/23 school year, meals will be charged to student accounts. You can view meal prices here https://www.district112.org/district/departments/nutrition-services. Families may apply for Educational Benefits multiple times throughout the school year as their income or number of dependents changes. You can apply for Educational Benefits online at https://frapps.horizonsolana.com/welcome or by sending a paper application to Nutrition Services, 11 Peavey Rd, Chaska MN 55318. If you have questions, please contact us at 952-556-6150 or [email protected]

**Kindergarten Breakfast and Kindergarten snack milk will still be free to all kindergarten students. Those programs are funded through MN legislation and not through Federal grants or waivers.
