So why you should play in the Club Championship?
Here are some of the comments we often hear which may be false narratives that might be keeping you from playing.
I am not good enough… I don’t even have a handicap!
All members will play in their skill level category or Flight. It is important to have a handicap so you can play with others that are at your level and put into the correct flight. Our Golf Professionals can help you get a handicap ASAP by having you submit past scores.
Competition worries me!
Competition does make us a little nervous because we want to do our best. The good news is everyone feels the same as you… even the seasoned veteran feels this way and nobody wants to embarrass his or her selves. You are playing against the course and the event tells you how you are doing against your peers; if you happen to fair well you win a prize... Great! If not... oh well.
All golfers know that the game is between “you, yourself and I”. Once you walk through the door and play you will see we are all the same in regards to this fear.
I blow up on holes.
We have instituted local rule for the event of double par on each hole; excluding the Championship Flight. Therefore if you are having a horrific hole the maximum you can score is double par.
The event is a celebration of our golf community. Yes, Champions will be crowned, but the Handicap system is there to allow all to participate on a level playing field.
You will meet some excellent people at the same skill level as yourself who share your love of the game. There is a competition, but let us call it ‘friendly’ competition. There will be some prizes and our Food and Beverage Department will be adding some great value to the event.
We hope you are able to come out and play!
