12-3-19 Annual Club Holiday Party

No lunch meeting today but here are reminders/announcements
  • Check the service calendar for remaining December events. 
  • Everett is out of the hospital and at Health Park Care and Rehab, room 216A for a couple weeks. If you have a chance to pay a visit he welcomes company. Phone is 343-7300. Address is 16131 Roserush Ct., 33908. 
  • Thank you Linda Petrik for delivering the food collected at our holiday party to FGCU. 
  • Thank you Cathy Smith for organizing our annual holiday party this year. 36 adults and 2 children attended. It was so nice to see everyone especially those we don't see very often. Thanks Todd Adams for the photos. 



 No club members are celebrating in December 
however former member and BUG chair Chrysten Foley is on the 23rd. 


 We collected 
65 books 
for the 
Early Learning Coalition 
at our 
Holiday 
Dinner.

Instead of a gift exchange at our holiday party we collected 166 pounds of food for the FGCU
Campus Food Pantry.

Volunteers needed December 14th for Wreaths Across  America. If you aren't helping with Breakfast for Santa consider helping lay wreaths at 3 cemeteries in our county.

Oasis Reading/Mentoring (Stewart Ross) weekly  at Orangewood  Elementary on Wednesdays  9:30am-10:10am. Please let Stewart know if you can help. Four volunteers are needed each week. Come make a difference! There is no school Dec 23-January 3rd

MS Support Group(Bill Grant), meets 3rd Thursday of each month at St. Hilary Episcopal Church. 

Literacy Buddy  "Buddies" still welcome. You will be paired with a child (age 3-5). Three times a year you will get a letter from your child and a few notes from his/her teacher describing the type of book they would like to have. You purchase the book and it goes to your child.   Start by signing up:   https://elcofswfl.org/index.php/elc-literacy-buddy-program/     In the section where it says preferred school write in Metro-McGregor Kiwanis Club. Books are due to the children; Jan 17th (second book) and April 17th, (third book). 
                                             
                                                    SLP's (Service Leadership Programs) 
Aktion Club -(Karen Hurst) at LARC. Meets 2nd Tuesday at 8:30am, year-round. They are collecting bottle caps as well. Bring in clean/used T-shirts for Karen to take as they are making more dog toys.

Key Club-(Harris Segel) Collegiate High on FSW campus. 

Builder's Club-(Barbara Hartman, Todd Adams, Ada Trapanese) Cypress Lake Middle. They club recently participated in Community Day at their school and Barbara shared some of their upcoming projects including making cards for the troops. 

K-Kids-(Kim Berghs) Littleton Elementary. Meetings are on Wednesdays at 2:15pm except Thursday Dec 12 instead of the 11th.
