Alpine Shrine Dedication

Sat May 16, 4:30pm (prior to Maitanz)

At the Club's Garden

All members are invited to attend this dedication ceremony.

The tradition of erecting wayside shrines along Alpine roadsides in Germany is deeply rooted in Christian history. These shrines called Bildstöcke, serve as a way of remembrance, reflection, and honoring those who have passed away.

Shortly after our newly elected president, Mary Munster, passed away unexpectedly last July, the Alpenrose Schuhplattlers decided to honor her, along with all of our Club’s deceased members, by dedicating a traditional Alpine Shrine in our garden. This gesture not only pays tribute to the memory of all of our lost members, but also strengthens the connection to our cultural heritage in German tradition.

Honorary member and former Trustee, Joe Eckenrode, volunteered to build and donate the Alpine Shrine for the Club. The photo here is a likeness of the shrine made by Joe.
