Future Operating Schedule: The Officers and Trustees will reevaluate our operating schedule from time to time as we move through the Green phase and beyond. Continue to look to the website and emails for updates to our service status.

Membership Meeting: Our July membership meeting date is scheduled next Thursday, July 2. Look to a separate email regarding information for that meeting which we plan to hold at the Pavilion with limited attendance and limited agenda items.

July 4 Club Anniversary: We anticipate holding a member-only Pavilion event, Saturday, July 4 from 11am-2pm to celebrate our Club's 140th anniversary. Look for information in upcoming emails.
Events that have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled this year:
  • July 17 Parrot Fest (back July 16, 2021)
  • August 3-6 Sommer Singspiel Youth Day Camp (back Aug 9-12, 2021)
  • August 21 Annual Hobby Chor Golf Outing (back Aug 20, 2021)

Events with rescheduled dates this year:
  • Annual Duck Race Fundraiser Rescheduled to August 2 (Annual Member Picnic)
  • Princess Committee Craft Night Fundraiser Rescheduled to July 12
Duck Race Our annual duck race fundraiser will be held August 2 in conjunction with the annual member picnic. Since the race can be conducted with a small number of organizers, we will have the race whether we can gather as a group for the picnic or not. We're hopeful that we can.
The Duck Race fundraiser is especially important in a year that we will have reduced revenue due to Covid-19 closure. So return your tickets and get your duck in the race!
Thank you, Chip & Chad Snyder and Snyder Funeral Homes for sponsorship of ticket printing.
Fun Club Tidbits:
  • Bagpipe Serenade For roughly 100 days since COVID-19 became the central story of our times, musician and Club member Mike Luckenbill has played an evening bagpipe concert in his Rohrerstown driveway. Thanks Mike, for providing a bright spot every evening for your quarantined neighbors!
  • LNP article and a video of Mike's performance

  • Klo-Papier (toilet paper) Challenge The Alpenrose Schuhplattler's governing body, Gauverband Nordamerika, was recently offered a challenge by a sister Gauverband in Bavaria, Germany. The challenge was to produce a video depicting all of the North American officers distributing toilet paper (klo-papier) to another officer. The video had to be emailed to Bavaria by Sunday, or it would cost the Nordamerika Gauverband 55 liters of beer. The YouTube video below is the final version of the challenge sent to Bavaria. The first person in the video is Nordamerika President Tom Vogt from Canada and the last person is Vorplattler, Rudy Leschke from California. You may recognize some of these officers, as many have visited the Liederkranz. And at about 2:10 or so, you’ll see our own John Blank and Paul Stanavage. Enjoy the fun!
