PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Last week we welcomed 25-year Navy Veteran and retired Captain Daniel Bean. Bean is the president of the Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association. He gave us an update on what the twelve-year process of bringing the USS Orleck to Jacksonville has looked like to date. We now have a ship! He discussed the difficulties with bringing the ship to Jacksonville and how they overcame all the legislative red tape that was involved both with local and state administrations. The implosion of the Berkman II also didn’t help with berthing the ship.

In addition, I would like to congratulate our wine raffle winners. Chuck Perrone took 1st place, and John and Susan Zona took 2nd & 3rd place. We also have a Member Hangout next Thursday (4/21) at J Alexanders. I look forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday when we will have our annual Scholarship Award Ceremony.

MEMBER HANGOUT

Join us for a Member Hangout on Thursday, April 21 at J. Alexander's in the St. John's Town Center. We will begin at 5:00pm. The first round of appetizers will be sponsored by Mark Geil Photography. As always, friends, family and co-workers are welcome and encouraged.

Join us for our monthly Golf Outing at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club!

Owned and operated by the City of Jacksonville Beach, Jax Beach Golf Club has been a staple in the golf world of beach life. There are 50+ years of history in these greens and fairways, starting out as a private 9-hole course and evolving into 18-holes when the City of Jacksonville Beach acquired the facility. Over the years, Jax Beach Golf Club has had many transformations, but none as extensive as the latest renovation that began in January 2018.

More than a facelift, the new course was designed to delight and inspire long-time club members and newcomers alike. Golfers will enjoy a fun, playable yet interesting design by acclaimed golf course architect, Harrison Minchew. Among the improvements are lush fairways of 419 Bermuda grass and greens planted with salt-resistant Platinum Paspalum turf. The drainage and irrigation systems have been modernized and use 100% reclaimed water along with reshaped and reconfigured holes that enhance playability. Golfers will appreciate more par-4 holes and fewer water hazards. The biggest change is in the finish with the reconfigured 16th, 17th, and 18th greens.

YAP GOLF TOURNAMENT

Mark your calendars! Our Annual YAP Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, May 9 at South Hampton Golf Club. The first tee time is at 12:30pm with a Shotgun Start! Please check in by 11:00am.

The price for golfers is $125 per player.

Hole Sponsorships are available for $150.
