Co-op Leadership Camp 2022:

What a great week!

Cooperative Leadership Camp was a blast!

Over 70 students joined us at Cooperative Leadership Camp (CLC) this year. Sessions covered many of the different cooperative industries, including A Day in the Life of a Line worker, The Green Screen Challenge, The DEI of Cooperatives, The Reality of Money and the building of a Worker/Owner Cooperative. Students learned about the Cooperative Principles, shared their talents in a talent show and hosted an awards ceremony — the Co-Opscars — to celebrate all of the hard work from their week at camp. Thanks to all that assisted with a great week of educating future leaders! #CoopsNC

Live from Co-op Leadership Camp!

During camp we had the amazing opportunity to be hosted live with a couple of our students on the Podcast Everything Co-op hosted by Vernon Oaks and sponsored by National Cooperative Bank and Cabot Creamery Cooperative. We were pleased to share about the camp experience live from the wooded area of our workshop space. Listen in to hear what our students experienced

Learning From Cooperatives

Coastal Credit Union provided a hands-on workshop on “adulting” that taught the students how to make adult life work — and all the costs associated with it! The Reality of Money gave each student a sneak peek at having a job, income and “grown-up” responsibilities.

North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation, Central Electric Membership and Four County Electric Membership demonstrated a Day in the Life of a Line worker. The students got to see how electric cooperatives keep the lights on all year round. They also heard from Nash Community College about their Line worker program and what it takes to become a Line worker.

Central Elecric Camp Video

Thanks to Star Communications and their video team for joining us and putting all the students in front of the green screen! It was a great way to learn how videos are produced and the equipment communication cooperatives use to share information with their members. Nighttime swimming and games in the pool was a great way to relax after fun-filled days of learning about cooperatives in the summer heat!
