Change in Monitoring Requirement for NAEMT Courses
Earlier this year, NAEMT's Education Committee reviewed current policies covering how EMS training centers become approved to conduct NAEMT courses.

In recognition of the high educational standards that EMS training centers must demonstrate to obtain CAAHEP accreditation, the committee recommended, and the NAEMT Board approved, waiving the standard requirement of affiliate faculty monitoring of new courses for all CAAHEP accredited Paramedic programs.

CAAHEP accredited Paramedic programs can now use their designated course coordinators to monitor their own faculty teaching NAEMT courses, provided that their faculty complies with all NAEMT instructor requirements (i.e., successful completion of the NAEMT Instructor Course and provider course).

Please contact Corine Curd, NAEMT's Course Site Development Manager at [email protected] for more information.
New Program Director? New Medical Director? New President/CEO? New Lead Instructor?
When there is a change in personnel (Program Director, Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Assistant Medical Director, Lead Instructor, Dean, President/CEO), the program must notify the CoAEMSP of changes within 15 calendar days of the vacancy.

Within 30 days of the vacancy, the program must submit required supporting documentation for the Program Director and Medical Director.

Personnel change forms are available here.

Programs received an invoice for Annual Accreditation Fees ($1,400) and Annual Satellite Fees ($500 per satellite) the week of May 4. This invoice came from Ruth Crump ( [email protected]).

If you have not received an invoice, first, check your spam folder to see if the invoice ended up there; if not, notify Ruth: [email protected], so that she can email it to you immediately.

The due date for the invoice is July 1. This applies to ALL programs that either hold accreditation, the Letter of Review, or are working toward the LoR.

To avoid additional processing fees, payment is due on or before July 31.

NOTE: An Additional Processing Fee invoice of $500 will be sent the first week in August for past due Annual Accreditation Fees and Annual Satellite Fees.

If your program requires that a Purchase Order appear on the invoice, email this request immediately to   [email protected].
Exploration Step: Assessing a Fee to Consortium Sponsors
At a recent meeting of the CoAEMSP Board of Directors, the board approved a motion to consider assessing a fee to a sponsor that is a consortium. A consortium is a unique sponsorship of a program when two or more members partner together to operate a Paramedic program. According to CAAHEP Standard I.B.:

I. Sponsorship
B. Consortium Sponsor
1. A consortium sponsor is an entity consisting of two or more members that exists for the purpose of operating an educational program. In such instances, at least one of the members of the consortium must meet the requirements of a sponsoring institution as described in I.A.

2. The responsibilities of each member of the consortium must be clearly documented in a formal affiliation agreement or memorandum of understanding, which includes governance and lines of authority.

With all consortium sponsors, additional time is required during the comprehensive review process to review and work with a consortium sponsor to ensure the documented formal affiliation agreement or MoU meets all the components of a consortium.

Future updates will be provided via the monthly eUpdate, www.coaemsp.org, and on social media.
New Request for Approval Form!
Be Sure You Understand Requirements for Satellite Locations & Classes!

Some programs are under the impression that having its satellite location and class approved once is enough. Not true!

The completed Request for Approval must be submitted in ADVANCE of the beginning of class, and for EACH cohort matriculated for each satellite location.

A new form is now used for the Request for Approval instead of via Survey Monkey! Be sure to use the new form!

Failure to obtain prior CoAEMSP approval for each location/class may result in the graduates from the location/class not being eligible for the national examination for the Paramedic.

Questions about this form and about the approval process may be directed to Lynn Caruthers at 214-703-8445, x115 or [email protected].

Why Should YOU Attend an Accreditation Workshop? Read Comments from the Most Recent Workshop Attendees

"This course should be mandatory for program directors and deans."

"We attend yearly as our commitment to the accreditation. It is so worth the time and money to maintain the accreditation."

"Great job; I feel a lot better about our upcoming visit."

"I liked the presentation of each step of the process. We are currently awaiting our site visit so that portion of the workshop was the most applicable to our situation. I appreciated the slides that contained valuable information regarding preparation for the site visit. And the general vibe of the workshop was relaxed so that attendees felt they could ask any question and have it answered to their satisfaction. If the presenters felt there wasn't adequate time to discuss the question right then, they always made sure to make time for discussion later."

"This workshop was extremely valuable to the accreditation process. We are anticipating a site visit in the fall and had a high level of anxiety about that process. Leaving the workshop, I felt confident that we were on the right track.CoAEMSP makes several tools available to make the process easier and also provides resources for questions or
concerns that arise along the way. Excellent workshop and I am so grateful that I was able to attend."

"This was truly one of the best workshops that I've attended in years. Excellent on all fronts: CoA staff, presenters, hotel & food were all excellent. Reasonable price for conference, hotel and flight. A++++"
