Greetings!

Fall is almost here and it’s time to start planning your Fall 2019 recruiting events! Fall is the best time for companies to host info sessions and tech talks on campus because it is when all of the top students are choosing their internships or full-time jobs for the following June. To secure your company's spot in our campus recruiting schedule, please contact Ashley Antoon at antoon@engineering.ucsb.edu to schedule an info session, meet and greet tabling or to send out any last minute job postings.

In this newsletter we highlight the industry sponsored Capstone projects and events that you may wish to attend in the upcoming weeks, including the 12th Annual Clorox-Amgen Graduate Student Symposium and Gaucho Professionals Expo. We would also like to welcome our newest CAP member, TrueVision Systems, Inc!
Industry Sponsored Capstone Projects
The UCSB Engineering Capstone Program is a year-long (2 quarters for CS; Fall and Winter), project-based course offered to fourth-year engineering students. The program focuses on the development of our students into professionals by pairing students with experts from industry and/or experts from academia to create an engineered solution for real and meaningful problems. In the spirit of UC Santa Barbara's collaborative culture, the program has grown to be truly multidisciplinary, tackling far-reaching problems across the disciplines of mechanical, electrical and computer engineering that have resulted in systems that exceed the abilities of a single department. We invite you to browse our projects and our talented students and to become involved in our mission of educating the future engineering leaders.

To sponsor a project, please contact:

Mechanical and Multidisciplinary (Combination)
Since its inception in 2003 as a Santa Barbara start-up, TrueVision Systems Inc. has regularly recruited top computer science and engineering students for internships and full-time positions. Joining UC Santa Barbara’s Corporate Affiliates was a natural progression of the relationship between the two entities. Recently acquired by ophthalmic giant, Alcon, TrueVision now focuses its groundbreaking development on improving outcomes in 3D eye surgery.

The UC Santa Barbara Chemical Engineering Graduate Student Symposium is a one-day forum for graduate students to present their research. The event is designed to provide a networking opportunity between industry attendees and members of the Department of Chemical Engineering with two main goals:

  1. Highlight ongoing work in the department to stimulate industrial collaborations
  2. Facilitate interactions with students seeking future employment opportunities

The Symposium consists of oral presentations given by senior students throughout the day, a lunch and poster session showcasing work from across the department, and a catered evening reception. Industry attendees will receive a flash drive containing the abstracts and CVs of presenting students to facilitate future connections.
