An Internship Experience
This summer, we were lucky enough to have an intern from Longwood University, who is interested in the orthotics and prosthetics field. Read below to see what Linze wrote about her experience.
"My time here at Coastal has been nothing short of AMAZING. I cannot thank everyone enough for the wisdom, guidance, and eye opening experiences I have encountered. Before wanting to know what the Prosthetics and Orthotics field was all about I wanted to strictly work with Military personnel and Veterans doing Physical Therapy but I also knew I wanted to work with amputees as well but I wasn’t quite sure how to get my feet in the water. Coming to Coastal helped me broaden my horizons and look at different paths for my future. At Coastal, I was able to work alongside practitioners with patients who were in the Military and are currently active duty, along with pediatric patients, geriatric patients, those with disabilities and just a broad spectrum of patients all together.
Interning at Coastal I gained a passion for working with children, children with disabilities and amputations. Knowing I could aid the children and families who need extra help and care brings me joy when thinking about my future. I cannot thank the team at Coastal enough for helping me come to this realization. The practitioners and staff here have given me more guidance than I could have ever imagined. Whether it was hands-on experiences, educational articles that helped me better my knowledge about the field, or educating me on the different schools and programs I could apply to, they are all nothing but amazing. This company is one big family and welcomed me with open arms who will always have a place in my heart."
