The sun has set on Round 2 of the 2022 GNCC season and the Wild Boar GNCC. Racing in the Sunshine State took its toll on all of the riders and the Florida sand left its mark on a number of top racers including our own.
Ricky Russell #212 got off to a good start but tangled with another rider, causing severe damage to his front wheel. From there, Russell hovered around a Top 5 position for the first half of the race, but a crash on lap four left him down and out. Ricky's injuries will be assessed and his return can't come soon enough.
Hot off the heels of a stellar performance at the opening round, Ryder Lafferty #19 suffered from a bad start early on. Battling around the Top 5 for the first few laps, Ryder suffered a heavy crash on and was forced to retire from the race on lap five. We expect Ryder will be able to race in Georgia next week.
On the amateur side, Cole Whitmer #518 put his GasGas EX350F on top of the box in the Open A after leading from start to finish in Palatka, FL. Lane Whitmer #587 put in a strong effort in Florida to finish 2nd 4-Stroke A Lites and Top 5 O/A Amateur on the day. Shawn Remington #76 suffered a mechanical while coming through the pack in 40+ A, forcing him out of the race on lap three.
