The Grand National Cross Country Series made its way up North for the first time this year, visiting Ironman Raceway for the Hoosier GNCC.
Ricky Russell #212 executed his signature start perfectly, rounding the first turns up front and in contention with the top Pro's. Russell ran inside the Top 5 at the end of lap one, but his lack of race time as of late proved costly as he slowly lost the tow throughout the race to finish 8th XC1. In XC2, Ryder Lafferty #19 struggled through the first half of the race running around the Top 10. However, his last half of the race was more than impressive as he matched or beat the leaders laptimes in charge up to 4th XC2, just a few seconds shy of the podium.
Cole Whitmer #518 had another strong showing at Ironman, stalking his class leader through the first three laps before making his move and setting sail to the Open A win. Lane Whitmer #587 had a challenging race with multiple mistakes early on leaving him to play catch up in the last half where he would ultimately finish 2nd in 4-Stroke A Lites. Shawn Remington #76 put in another solid ride, running a steady race to finish 3rd in the 40+ A class.
