Together, we are the body of Christ ~ transforming people from members into disciples, moving more deeply into God's call to life and ministry, and extending our mission beyond the status quo.

53rd Annual Diocesan Convention

Nearly 300 clergy, delegates, visitors, exhibitors, and volunteers gathered on February 23 and 24, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Daphne, for our 53rd Annual Diocesan Convention. We are deeply grateful for the time we shared. Hopefully, those who attended were able to find a "Little Jesus," and left with a renewed sense of community and transformation. Our keynote guests, Dr. Lisa Kimball and the Rev. Tricia Lyons, shared insightful ways to look further into ourselves so that we can share the love of Christ with others. If you did not attend but know someone who did, ask them about their experience!

Thank you to the members of St. Paul's, Daphne, who welcomed us with an abundance of love and hospitality!

The summary of all the proceedings, recordings of presentations, photos, etc. will be coming soon.

“A Month of Unselfish Love" Challenge

It's never too late to participate in the "A Month of Unselfish Love" challenge. As a companion to the movie, "A Case for Love," released for one day only on January 23, 2024, the creators made available a 30-day journal and asked the world to continue expressing love by performing daily acts of selflessness and journaling their moments. Join us as we put unselfish love front and center for the world to see! This would make a great Lenten practice.

In Case You Missed It

St. Monica's, Cantonment, held Ashes to Go at a local hardware store and had an amazing experience and turnout. More photos and information is available at NorthEscambia.com

On Sunday, February 18, during Bishop Russell's annual visit to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Mobile, the church was celebrating Black History Month. One of the very important events held was giving reverence to their seven founders by reading the name of each founder, ringing the bell, and lighting a candle in their honor. They then laid a wreath at the base of the church’s historical marker outside the church. Bishop Russell provided the blessing afterward. May God continue to bless Good Shepherd and the memory of its founders: John Bryan, Joshua Davis, Mariah Davis, William Johnson, Hynson Jones, James Scott, Lucy Trueheart. More photos are available here.

Good Friday Offering, special online concert to support Middle East ministries

As The Episcopal Church’s Good Friday Offering prepares to mark 102 years, Presiding Bishop Michael Curry invites the whole church to an afternoon of sacred music and collective giving to support siblings in Jerusalem and the Middle East.

Recorded at Christ and St. Luke’s Church, Norfolk, in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia, the concert will air online at 3 p.m. ET March 29 on The Episcopal Church’s Facebook page and website. Viewers will have the opportunity to make donations during the event to go toward the offering, also frequently gathered by churches during Good Friday services.

“We will not forget those caught in the crossfire between warring factions in the land where our Lord walked,” Curry writes in his annual Lent letter to Episcopal churches. “As we mark our Lord’s passion and death on Good Friday, we remember those whom he loves facing injustice and oppression today, and remember the urgency of love—true, sacrificial love.”
