Together, we are the body of Christ ~ transforming people from members into disciples, moving more deeply into God's call to life and ministry, and extending our mission beyond the status quo.
Our neighbors impacted by Hurricane Helene, and most recently Hurricane Milton, desperately need assistance. The Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast has set up a hurricane/disaster relief fund of which 100% of money donated will be given to the dioceses of the affected areas.
Part 1: Neighbor with Bishop Russell now available
About Project Neighbors
In a time of deep division and rising tension, how do we recapture the ethic of loving our neighbor? The Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast invites you to join "Project Neighbors," a six-week video reflection series aimed at rediscovering hope, compassion, and connection.
Beginning October 8, each week’s session will focus on a key biblical value—hospitality, sacrifice, gratitude, compassion, and peace—guiding us toward healing and understanding. Through personal stories, scripture, and reflection, we’ll explore how these timeless principles can lead us back to each other in love. Whether you join individually or in a group, we invite you to walk with us as we seek to remember what truly matters: loving our neighbors as ourselves.
On Tuesday mornings, a 4-5 minute video and study guide will be made available. You can find them on this page or by subscribing to the email. Members of our staff will also host an online conversation (on Thursdays at noon on Zoom) for further dialogue so that we can hear your ideas and learn with you. And while this series comes to you as our election approaches, it is a series that does not carry an expiration date.
Let’s journey together toward a more hopeful horizon.

Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd Celebrating 170 Years
The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd holds significant importance as one of the oldest historically Black congregations in the country. It is the oldest Black congregation in the state of Alabama and the fourth oldest in the city of Mobile.
Particularly notable is that it was founded in 1854 by seven enslaved and free men and women under the support and guidance of Trinity and Christ Church of Mobile. This was at a time when the antebellum south embraced slavery in its harshest forms.
The first place of worship was opened for “Divine Service” in 1855.
From there the church relocated in 1884 to State and Warren Streets and remained until the present location was erected in the Toulminville area in 1964.

Please join us on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 10 a.m. CT, for Holy Eucharist in thanksgiving of these 170 years. A reception and a special dedication will follow the service.

Join the Churchwide Virtual Celebration
The Investiture of Presiding Bishop-elect Sean Rowe
In this historic and joyful season, we invite you to pray for guidance for our church and our new presiding bishop as he leads us in envisioning the reign of God in our midst. May our celebration unite us as a sacramental community, and may we be filled with new energy to bear witness to God’s work of redemption.
Who: Everyone is invited!
What: The Episcopal Church will officially welcome the Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe as its 28th presiding bishop with a smaller, simpler investiture service aimed at reducing carbon footprint and increasing churchwide virtual participation.
When: Nov. 2, with a prelude featuring a “roll call” of dioceses starting at 9:30 a.m. ET. The service itself starts at 11 a.m. ET.
Where: The service will be livestreamed on this page and on The Episcopal Church’s Facebook page. A recording will be posted and distributed after the service.
How can I participate? Churches, dioceses, small groups, seminaries, and other Episcopal communities are encouraged to organize watch parties to participate in real time with Episcopalians around the world. Find and download customizable invitation assets.
