Together, we are the body of Christ ~ transforming people from members into disciples, moving more deeply into God's call to life and ministry, and extending our mission beyond the status quo.

Note: During June and July, the Coastline will be published only once each month on the second Wednesday.

Labyrinth Walks

By the Rev. Eric Zubler

Throughout the many weeks of Lent and into Holy Week, I have spent increasing time with labyrinths—particularly our diocesan labyrinth, a canvas reproduction of the eleven-circuit Chartres Cathedral labyrinth. At Trinity in Mobile, we explored this sacred tool in a variety of ways: indoors and outdoors, with music and in silence, and even in conjunction with the Stations of the Cross each Wednesday in Lent. Together, we experienced both fellowship and formation as we came to understand what makes a labyrinth a liminal space—a sacred “thin place” where heaven and earth meet.

People walk labyrinths for many reasons. Some walk simply to open their minds to God through the rhythm and movement of their bodies. Others walk to release the burdens of heartache and the pain life brings. Still others walk out of curiosity, drawn by the mystery of the path itself.

School for Ministry Update 2025

By the Rev. Joy Blaylock, Dean

As we approach the end of another school year, I am happy to report that our students are flourishing and living into their vocation faithfully. This year, the students studied systematic theology, ethics, pastoral care, and parish administration, and engaged in a liturgical practicum with the Rev. Ashley Freeman, as well as Contextual Education with the Rev. Lydia Johnson.

As the Rev. Ashley Freeman recently said, “It's truly a blessing to work with the seminarians in their liturgical practicum. Witnessing the growth of their liturgical identity as they plan, participate, and lead the sacred rites of the Church brings me great joy. Their eagerness to learn, their willingness to support each other, and their dedication to serving the people in our diocese are inspiring. I am grateful I am able to participate in this part of their formation; it is always exciting to witness the transformation these students experience as they prepare to serve God's people in ordained ministry.”
