Beckwith Sunday on April 28
Every year on the last Sunday of April, congregations are invited to celebrate the mission and ministry of Beckwith Camp and Conference Center. St. Mary's, Andalusia, welcomed Bishop Russell Kendrick for his annual visit on April 7. During the service, they celebrated the baptism of Diana Beasley, and Bishop Russell confirmed and received ten members of St. Mary's. | |
Holy Spirit, Gulf Shores celebrated a wonderful Easter season with their inaugural Sunrise Service held at the Hangout event venue located on the beach, followed lunch and an egg hunt. | |
St. Mary's Milton received a wonderful welcome from Tiny Acres NWFL Equine Rescue in Milton Florida as they spent a morning of dedicated and selfless team work installing solar light poles, touring the facility and learning more about their mission. Tiny Acres provides many neglected horses, donkeys, & mini pigs with much needed love and care. Additionally Tiny Acres serves the Santa Rosa community with a Thanksgiving Food Drive that provides tons of food for the St. Mary's Food Pantry. St. Mary's is proud to support Tiny Acres physically with working at their facility and financially with all the animals needs. Happening is a spiritual formation weekend presented BY teenagers FOR teenagers with the help of clergy and lay adult leadership. Happening seeks to bring young people to a fuller personal knowledge of and relationship with Jesus, and to a deeper level of commitment and apostleship.
Adults include moms, dads, young adults, youth ministers, and clergy who are actively involved in Diocesan Youth Ministry.

Ordinations to the Diaconate

The Commission on Ministry has recommended, the Standing Committee has certified, and the bishop has approved six candidates to be ordained into the Sacred Order of Deacons.
Kay Dennis and Pratt Paterson who were approved for ordination to the Diaconate; and Leanne Beaumont, Pam Christian, Ted Kirchharr, and Jen Rice, who were approved for ordination to the Transitional Diaconate.
All are welcome to attend. Clergy are invited to vest in alb or cassock/surplice and red stole.

Becoming Beloved Community: Sacred Conversations

Join us for a workshop that will provide insights into the causes
and effects of racism. We explore unconscious bias, prejudice, white privilege, and ways to work together to Become the Beloved Community. This offering is required for those in parish leadership (such as vestry members) and at the diocesan level (including those serving on commissions, committees, agencies, or boards). It also qualifies for eight hours of clergy training/ education for those who complete the full-day course. There is no fee to participate, but it requires the commitment to be engaged for the full day. Limited to 26 participants. Lunch provided.

Slate of 4 bishops announced for 28th presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church
Nominees are bishops Barker, Gutiérrez, Rowe and Wright

[Episcopal News Service] The Episcopal Church’s next presiding bishop will be chosen this June from a slate of four nominees, whose names were released April 2: Nebraska Bishop J. Scott Barker, Pennsylvania Bishop Daniel G.P. Gutiérrez, Atlanta Bishop Robert Wright and Northwestern Pennsylvania Bishop Sean Rowe, who also serves as bishop provisional of the Diocese of Western New York.
Those four bishops – and any additional candidates nominated by petition – will be presented for election at the 81st General Convention, which convenes June 23-28 in Louisville, Kentucky. The nominees’ names will be formally submitted June 25 during a joint session of the House of Bishops and House of Deputies. On June 26, the bishops will elect, and deputies will be asked to confirm, the church’s 28th presiding bishop, who will succeed Presiding Bishop Michael Curry beginning Nov. 1.
