Keeping Watch: Prayers of Lament and Hope

Monday, March 30, 6 p.m. on Zoom

Join us for a diocesan-wide online prayer service, "Keeping Watch: Prayers of Lament and Hope," on Monday, March 30, at 6 p.m. on Zoom, as we gather in unity with Episcopalians across the church for a special vigil. Rooted in the invitation of Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe, Bishop Russell will lead us through a service that offers a sacred space to pray for the continued conversion of our hearts and for God's blessing on our witness as we enter Holy Week.

Churches across the diocese are encouraged to either hold their own local service or join us online, creating opportunities for communities everywhere to lament the violence and division in our world while witnessing to God's call for reconciliation and peace. Church leaders are welcome to use, add music to, or adapt the liturgy shared below.

Come be part of this time of prayerful reflection as we turn again toward God-and toward one another-in love.

Good Friday Offering

For more than a century, Episcopalians have supported the Good Friday Offering, sustaining the vital ministries of the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East. Today, amid ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis, the need is greater than ever. Sean Rowe invites the church to respond with generosity and compassion.

In close communication with Archbishop Hosam Naoum, Presiding Bishop Rowe shares the urgent needs of communities across the region, where Episcopal ministries continue to offer healing and hope to people of all faiths. Gifts to the Good Friday Offering support institutions such as al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza, medical and outreach ministries in Iraq and Yemen, and Episcopal congregations in Syria and Lebanon—each serving as a witness to Christ’s love in the midst of hardship.

As we pray for a just and lasting peace, we are also called to act. Through the Good Friday Offering, we join in God’s work of turning despair into hope in the land where our faith was born.

Beckwith Seeking Summer Camp Staff

Camp Beckwith is putting the finishing touches on its 2026 summer staff and is currently seeking three additional male counselors to complete the team. The residential camp, located on Weeks Bay, will run its summer program from May 17 through July 26. The remaining openings are for high school graduates and older who are interested in working closely with campers in a fast-paced, faith-centered environment. Counselors will live on-site for the 10-week season, earning $2,400 in addition to room and board.

Staff members at Camp Beckwith play a central role in daily camp life, guiding groups of campers through activities such as waterfront programs, ropes courses, arts and crafts, and outdoor games. In addition to leading activities, counselors are responsible for mentoring campers, supporting junior staff members, and helping create a positive and structured environment.

The role is both demanding and rewarding, requiring energy, flexibility, and a strong sense of responsibility. Counselors also contribute to the spiritual life of camp by leading devotions and serving as positive role models.

Pilgrimage to Equal Justice Initiative National Memorial for Peace and Justice and Legacy Museum

Saturday, April 18

Montgomery, AL

Pilgrims will travel by chartered motor coach. In Montgomery, we will visit the National Memorial, the Legacy Museum, and the Sculpture Garden. The $20 registration fee will cover transportation in addition to entry tickets to the venues.

Pilgrims are responsible for bringing their own lunch and snacks.

A pastoral word to The Episcopal Church from the March 2026 gathering of the House of Bishops

Dear people of God: 

Grace and peace to you in Jesus Christ our Lord. 

Introduction

The bishops of The Episcopal Church gathered from March 17-24 at Camp Allen Conference Center in Navasota, Texas. Our gathering included 122 bishops and bishops-elect, representing 89 dioceses and special ministries across 17 countries and territories. As we conclude our meeting, we give thanks for the mutual affection and fruitful collaboration we experience during our time together, and we renew our commitment to bear witness with clarity and unity to the transforming power of the Gospel.  

Reflections from our meeting 

Our gathering was focused primarily on the challenges and opportunities before us as a church. We welcomed 12 representatives from Episcopal seminaries and local formation programs to engage in thoughtful dialogue about the state of theological education and our need to better integrate traditional and innovative modes of discernment, recruitment, and training for future clergy and lay leaders. We explored possibilities for expanding the work of church planting and the redevelopment of existing congregations.
