A fantastic partnership was celebrated recently at the newly renovated Cinco Bayou Boat Ramp in the beautiful Town of Cinco Bayou. The improvements include 16 new boat trailer parking spaces, a new bathroom, improved access to the boat ramp, and landscaping, with future dock improvements planned. The new bathroom and parking spaces are now open for public use.

BEFORE & AFTER: In just six hours, Okaloosa Public Works crews replaced a 55+ year-old stormwater pipe on Hollywood Boulevard in Mary Esther. Aging infrastructure like this could have led to major problems on the roadway for motorists and residents in the area.

Stormwater improvements are one example of the type of infrastructure projects that can be funded with infrastructure surtax revenue. While this project was not on the surtax list the renewal of surtax can lead to more improvements and replacements to prevent issues. Roads Division Manager Robert Vandenbroeck recognized the swift and hard work of his crew.

"I’m just proud of what our guys can accomplish," he said. "Instead of 'we can’t' or 'no', it’s 'YES', let’s figure this out, said Vandenbroeck.

The pipe was located 2 inches above a vital water main. The crews expertly maneuvered over it with no impact.
