Chairman's Corner
by Jason Shepherd
|
|
|
I have a first cousin and first cousin-in-law who are health care workers. Ashlea Stumpert, the daughter of former Cobb GOP Chairman Scott Johnson is a RN and her husband is a police officer. Cobb GOP member and HD 40 Secretary
Fun Fong
is an ER doctor who was recently
highlighted by U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler
for his work combating COVID-19. Throughout our GOP community, many of our members are actively engaged in fighting COVID-19, and we cannot thank them enough.
However, it's not just the front line workers who we owe a measure of gratitude to. Our Cobb GOP members are also going the extra mile to help during this crisis.
Recently, Cobb GOP Deputy General Counsel
Neera Bahl
and member
Juan Violantes
, co-owner of Giovanni's Italian Restaurant in Powder Springs, surprised workers at the
Kennestone Hospital, Cardiology Department by delivering 50 lunches.
Each week, Georgia Federation of Republican Women President and Cobb GOP 1st Vice-Chair
Kim Sherk
volunteers with "Backpack Blessings" at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church to make sure kids who are learning at home will have enough to eat. She has also been recording videos reading children's books to be played at story time in local schools. I've even recorded one myself.
These are only a couple of examples of the dozens I see on social media or hear about talking with others. Cobb County Republicans are quietly making a difference for our community each and every day of this crisis. In the articles below, how have ways you can help too.
The Cobb County Republican Party especially thanks those on the front lines during this crisis who put their health, safety, and welfare on the line daily to support us.

Important: Voting precinct changes for Presidential Primary and General Primary
|
|
|
The Secretary of State has announced that the Primary Election has been postponed to June. Cobb Elections staff is finalizing polling changes for the June primary. Most of the changes come from an effort to move polling places out of schools. More than 35 polling places have changed locations since the last election, and Cobb County Elections Director Janine Eveler urges voters to act to make sure they know where to vote in the upcoming primary election.
“Most of these changes are happening because we need to move polling places out of schools,” Eveler said. “Cobb Elections is increasingly concerned about new security measures possibly preventing voter access to school facilities, so our priority has been to find other places to host polling places.”
Three other changes were made to split larger precincts in half to avoid long lines at those polling places. Several other precincts were changed because the polling locations were no longer available.
All voters will be sent new precinct cards and those affected by the latest changes will also receive a letter. Eveler urges each voter to verify his or her assigned precinct and polling place prior to voting. Voters can check their registration, update their addresses, view their precinct and polling locations, see early voting options and view sample ballots by logging into
mvp.sos.ga.gov.
This site can also be used by new voters wishing to register.

The 11th Congressional District GOP is pleased to announce their 6th Annual Marksmanship & BBQ: August 21st, 4pm to 8pm
|
|
|
Since Congressional District GOP organizations will be losing revenue from registrations for their cancelled District GOP organizations, they will be relying on fundraiser events such as these to help our Republican candidates in the general elections.
The 11th Congressional District GOP's annual marksmanship and barbecue has been scheduled once again at the Adventure Outdoors in South Cobb in August on the 21st, running from 4pm to 8pm. See you there!
