"Last year our CoboCares programs were held on Cobo Square overlooking our marquee digital sign," said Claude Molinari, general manager SMG/Cobo Center. "We couldn't wait this year for the warm weather to build community relationships that allow residents to enjoy the beautiful Detroit River at sunset."
Once the weather breaks, free events for the community will take place on Cobo Square, some integrating the technology of the 4,800 marquee digital sign with live feed and social media, a popular feature of last year's community events.
Prior to the warm weather, free Zumba® was also held in the atrium April 12, hosted by Ivy Mitchell, Detroit's #1 Zumba® instructor (by WDIV Detroit Channel 4).
Events will move out to Cobo Square Wednesday May 10 at 5:30PM when Zumba® with Ivy Mitchell will return along with a fitness fashion show hosted by Nordstrom.
"We are hoping to develop this community programming series into something people look forward to every year," said Molinari.
"CoboCares is an extension of our brand, and represents the way we care about our employees, our community and the industry. We care about being good citizens in many ways, and CoboCares will give people opportunities to be part of that."
