Cocoon House's FLUTTER Newsletter
A Note from Interim CEO Joe Alonzo
Dear Friends,

In July 2016, Cocoon House set out on a Capital Campaign to raise $14.2 million to build a new youth center. I'm so honored to share with you, that thanks thanks to work put forth by our Board of Directors, our volunteers and our supporters, we broke ground on Cocoon House's new Colby Avenue Youth Center last month.

Over the next year and throughout construction, we will keep you informed of our progress and when our doors will open in 2019. Some of the things we're most anxiously anticipating are 20 units of new housing for young people ages 18-24; a multipurpose space where the community can gather, private rooms for onsite behavioral health and substance abuse services and so much more.

Thank you all so much for your continued support of Cocoon House. Your dedication is allowing us to work to break the cycle of homelessness.

Colby Avenue Youth Center Groundbreaking
On March 30, more than 60 people gathered to drink coffee, nosh on some delicious cupcakes and watch the official groundbreaking at the new Colby Avenue Youth Center in Everett.

Celebrating with those who helped us locate and secure funding for our new center made the occasion extra special. We know this new facility will allow us to launch programs that will truly make a difference in our community. Thank you sincerely for your support throughout the Capital Campaign. See you all at the grand opening in 2019!

Premera Blue Cross Investment Provides
Much-Needed Funding
Cocoon House is thrilled to share the news of Premera's $1.6 million dollar investment toward the Capital Campaign benefiting our new Colby Avenue Youth Center.

Paul Hollie, Corporate Social Responsibility and Communications Leader for Premera, sees the investment as a way for Premera to work toward their fundamental goal of improving healthcare in the community. “Premera's Social Impact program focuses on behavioral health. But we also know that homelessness and behavioral health have an overwhelming impact on each other.” Hollie said. “We’re so happy to partner with Cocoon House as they build this new center. The services they provide - both immediate and long-term - are crucial parts of helping stabilize the life of a struggling young person. We recognize the increasing need for youth homeless housing and we’re very proud to be a part of this project that will directly benefit the community.”
