Breaking Code: A One-Hour Entertaining Lesson in Coding 
Tuesday, December 4, from 1 to 6:30 pm, four sessions offered
Wilton Library is joining Computer Science Education Week, a national movement to promote Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM). One-hour "lessons" in coding will be given throughout the afternoon for adults and children ages 6+ at the following intervals: 1 - 2pm; 2:30 - 3:30pm; 4 - 5pm; and 5:30 - 6:30pm. Participants will use library computers. A short introduction will be given at the start of each hour. Attendees participate at their own speed. Join us as we peek behind the coding curtain together! We encourage kids and parents, friends, or anyone with a "How'd they do that?" curiosity.  Please click the times listed above to register.
Too Stressed to Learn: Top 10 Practical Strategies for Getting Worry & Anxiety Out of the Way in the Classroom, During Homework, and Beyond

Are anxiety and worry getting in the way of your child's learning? Susan Bauerfeld, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist, parent consultant/coach, and ADHD coach, will present an overview of the neurobiological mechanisms of anxiety and worry; a model for understanding how these mechanisms impact the brain's availability for both learning and interpersonal connections; and a set of practical skills for managing worry that fosters self-regulation, an increased capacity for learning, and improved interpersonal relationships. Wilton Holiday Stroll 
Friday, December 7 from 5:30 to 7:30pm
Wilton Library takes part in the annual Wilton Holiday Stroll, offering refreshments and good cheer. Enjoy the warmth of the fireplace and while you are here, take an 'ornament' from our Giving Tree to help the Library with our wish list, purchase some Giving Gelt with proceeds supporting the Children's Library or peruse the Holiday Book Sale and the art exhibition for holiday gift giving. There is something for everyone!

Holiday Book Sale

The Holiday Book Sale in the gallery is a seasonal delight where bargains can be found - featuring a large array of pristine books, DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks suitable for gift-giving to all ages. This year, the sale includes a diverse collection of classical, jazz, Latin and blues CDs. All CDs are priced to sell, many are new shrink-wrapped items. All merchandise is perfect for holiday gift-giving. As items are sold, new ones appear daily. All sales support the library.  More info
Getting Through the Holidays After a Loss

If you are seeking practical tips and coping strategies for how to make it through the holiday season after a loss, you are invited to attend a workshop for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Presented by Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County and Wilton Library, this support group is free-of-charge and open to the public but pre-registration is required. SCORE Business Workshop: How To Create Profitable Facebook Ad Campaigns

SCORE of Fairfield County, Wilton Library, and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce present a seminar that will show small business owners how to maximize leads on Facebook. Using a case study, participants will learn about the importance of profile targeting, types of Facebook ads, creating memorable copy and images, creating landing pages that convert to sales and best markets for Facebook ads. Speaker is Ed Winslow, a career entrepreneur for 30 years.  More info & register
Breast Cancer Survivors' Support Group
Tuesday, December 4 @6pm
This special session of the support group features Stephen Farley, the Clinical Hematology/Oncology Pharmacist Specialist in Medical Oncology at the  Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital. Stephen will discuss the interactions of different medications, as well as herbs and supplements. Post-treatment breast cancer survivors are invited to join in this monthly support group led by Nina Marino, LCSW. Nina was the Clinical Director of the former Breast Cancer Survival Center and is a breast cancer survivor.  More info & register
Gingerbread House & Sleigh Creations for Teens

Come decorate your own Gingerbread House and make a candy cane sleigh while listening to holiday tunes! For students in grades 6-9. All supplies provided. Sponsored by the John and Patricia Curran Teen Fund.
