Not Goodbye But See You Soon!

Ms. Kirchdoerfer, our Guidance teacher, has completed her assignment at Coebourn but will remain within PDSD. Students had the opportunity to say their goodbyes and express their appreciation by writing heartfelt cards. During her time here, Ms. K made a meaningful impact by teaching students the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People through the Leader in Me program.

The program will continue under the guidance of Ms. Annunziato, School Counselor, who will rotate between Pennell and Coebourn to teach the guidance special. Stay tuned next week for more about Ms. Annunziato!

Tech Tip from our Technology Teacher, Ms. Cameron:

Wondering which games are suitable for your child? The answer lies in your family's values. But how can you find out what's in a game? Your child might argue, "Everyone else is playing it." Organizations like Cyberwise and Commonsense Media offer game reviews that can help.

One popular game among second graders is Among Us, which launched in 2018 but saw a surge in popularity during lockdown. Approximately 50% of my second grade students have played it. For a detailed assessment of the game, check out the review on familytechblog.com. Here is their review of Among Us :  https://youtu.be/Zog-Rj1dqNQ

Reminders

Important Reminders for Families

  • Winter Weather Gear: Please ensure your children come to school dressed appropriately for the season, including winter coats, hats, and gloves. Outdoor recess will be held whenever the weather permits and there is no precipitation.
  • Parking Guidelines: Parking is not permitted in the lot located behind the school near the gym/cafeteria. This area is reserved for custodial and cafeteria staff parking. Kindly use the main parking lot or the car line for arrival and pickup.
  • After-School Supervision: Parents picking up students from school are reminded to supervise their children closely. Students should not play on the grass at the back of the school. The staff member on duty is responsible for overseeing the crosswalk area only.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us ensure the safety and smooth operation of our school!

Staff Highlight

Ms. Jess King

Reading Specialist

Fun Facts from Ms. King:

  1. I bought a house this year!
  2. I love traveling!
  3. I run a local swim club in the summer and love swimming.
  4. In my free time, I make flower arrangements for friends and family. This year I arranged all of the flowers for my cousins wedding.
  5. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies and that's why I love teaching the students at Coebourn how to be the best readers they can be!

Taking part in literacy activities at home can develop your child's reading ability, comprehension, and language skills. This workshop will provide parents with fun and practical ideas to engage their child in early literacy activities such as rhyming, joint storytelling, and multisensory play. The targeted audience for this session is 4-8 year olds. Please register for this session by Thursday February 6, 2025. by clicking the link below

The Mobile Dentist Returns February 7

Does your student need to see the dentist? We are excited to partner with The Smile Program: My School Dentist to offer in-school dental care on February 7, 2025.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health requires a dental examination upon entrance to school (kindergarten or 1st grade) and in grades 3 and 7. Those who need a dental exam, regardless of grade, can sign up to be examined at Northley Middle School. Learn more and register at www.pdsd.org/dentist.
