Join Us for Sun Valley Science Night! Mark your calendars for an exciting night of science and exploration at Sun Valley Science Night on Thursday, March 13, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Hosted by the Sun Valley Science National Honor Society, this event features student projects, hands-on demos, planetarium stargazing, classroom tours, and prize giveaways. Plus, enjoy delicious treats (cash only) and support a great cause by bringing donations for Rags2Riches Animal Rescue (newspaper, towels, blankets, and sheets). We hope to see you there for a fun and educational evening!

Kindergarten Registration is Now Open!

Tech Tip from our Technology Teacher, Ms. Cameron:

The last few Tech Tips have been about generative AI. As I mentioned, federal law prohibits students under age 13 from using AI on their own. Here is a brief excerpt from an article by Raisa Masood for Commonsense Media with ideas for broaching the subject.

How can I talk to my child about ChatGPT?

If your children use or want to use ChatGPT, consider talking about these topics:

Explain the importance of checking the credibility of a source before trusting the information, and point out that ChatGPT does not give sources for its information.
Help them understand that plagiarism is when you take someone else's work or ideas and present them as your own. Using ChatGPT to do your schoolwork could be considered plagiarism or cheating.
Talk about how you might use ChatGPT as a family to be creative or get inspired. Have it create a list of outdoor activities for kids, or ask it to suggest a craft project to try.
