Express Grant Program


The Massachusetts Commonwealth has awarded $3.5 million in Express Grants to teach businesses a wide variety of of skills. Running a small to medium size business is extremely difficult because the owners and employees are required to wear so many different hats. Far too often, businesses make major decisions without fully understanding their position in the market place. The Express Grant Program is available to help make more informed decisions. The help comes in the form of educational classes covering all aspects of running a business.


The classes include the marketing component. Marketing today involves a variety of platforms and continues to change. As you know, marketing can be extremely expensive. In order for them to make cost effective marketing investments it is important to fully understand the options that are available.

State Reduces Paid Family and Medical Leave Contribution Rate for 2023


Most Massachusetts employers must make payroll withholdings on behalf of their workforce to comply with the state Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) law. The rate of contribution for the program is determined annually by the Department of Family and Medical Leave (DFML). DFML has announced that effective January 1, 2023, the contribution rate on eligible employee wages will be reduced to .63%. State Announces $2.5 Million in New Grant Funding for Greener Commercial Refrigeration Equipment


This new program provides financial incentives for retail food businesses, food banks, and nonprofit organizations to install more climate-friendly commercial refrigeration equipment and permanent refrigerant leak detection systems. MassDEP will accept applications through February 3, 2023. For more information visit https://www.mass.gov/how-to/apply-for-a-massdep-commercial-refrigeration-grant.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the SBA


Join SBA's webinar TOMORROW at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The webinar will feature a panel discussion with Gabe Esparza, Associate Administrator, SBA’s Office of International Trade; and small business owners Eduardo Ortiz of Coforma, LLC, in Washington, D.C. and Alejandro Ramirez of Universal Spartan, LLC, in Vine Grove, Kentucky. 


The discussion will focus on financial wellness and the importance of equity and opportunity to help uplift and support Hispanic-owned small businesses. The panel will also discuss SBA initiatives and resources that support small business recovery, Hispanic-owned startups seeking to launch and help for existing Hispanic-owned small businesses as they pivot and grow in a post-COVID world. Wright Technology Group is offering a Cybersecurity Seminar on Tuesday, October 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the TACC Office at 170 Dean Street, Taunton. There is also an option to attend virtually. 


Ryan Sarvia will provide a brief overview on current technology and how to defend yourself from failing victim to hackers. Following the presentation will be a Q&A to answer any cybersecurity questions attendees may have. Register below.

BCSB Appoints Jeffrey to Assistant VP/Branch Manager of Dartmouth Office


Bristol County Savings Bank (BCSB) recently announced the appointment of Justin Jeffrey to the position of Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager at its Dartmouth office located at 502 State Road. Jeffrey is responsible for the management of branch operations, customer relations and new business development.
