Coffee with the Candidate:
a Virtual Meet & Greet

Friday August 26th at 8:30 AM

When the 2023-2024 Wisconsin State Legislature is sworn into office next January there will be a minimum of 30 new lawmakers in the State Assembly and State Senate. That number could be even higher depending on the results of the November elections.

To introduce clients and colleagues to as many new lawmakers prior to the start of the 2023-2024 Legislative Session, we will be hosting a series of virtual meet & greets with incoming and likely new lawmakers.

Our third meet & greet will take place this Friday, August 26th at 8:30 AM with Nik Rettinger, Republican candidate for Wisconsin’s 83rd Assembly District seat.

Nik Rettinger defeated his opponent in the August 9th Republican primary by capturing 58% of the total vote. He will not face an opponent in the November 8th general election.

The 83rd Assembly District is currently represented by State Representative Chuck Wichgers (R-Muskego). The new legislative maps adopted by the Wisconsin Supreme Court moved Rep. Wichgers out of the 83rd and into the district currently represented by Ken Skowronski (R-Franklin). Rep. Skowronski announced his retirement earlier this year.

To receive the “Teams Meeting” invite, please RSVP to Chas Schellpeper at crschellpeper@michaelbeststrategies.com by Thursday, August 25th.

Biography:

Nik Rettinger is the Republican candidate for Wisconsin’s 83rd Assembly District seat. The 83rd AD includes the towns and villages of Eagle, Mukwonago, and Waterford, as well as the towns of East Troy, Troy, and Vernon, the village of Big Bend, and the city of Muskego. Rettinger is running to fill the seat vacated by State Rep. Chuck Wichgers (R-Muskego) who due to redistricting is running for the 82nd AD seat. Rettinger defeated his opponent in the Republican primary election by capturing 58% of the total vote and will not face an opponent in the November 8th general election. He is an alumnus of UW-Milwaukee, having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and history. Rettinger is currently the chief of staff for Sen. André Jacque, but has worked for several Republican state legislators including former Rep./Sen. David Craig and former Rep. Jesse Kremer. He is also the co-owner of Campaign Tutors and is actively involved in the Republican Party of Wisconsin, having served in several leadership positions for the state GOP including as the current first congressional district chairman. Rettinger said he is "unwavering in my pro-life stance, will stand strong on the 1st and 2nd Amendments, and have worked hard to support law enforcement to keep our communities safe." When asked what the most pressing issue is that he wants to work on, Rettinger said "we must get to work on regulatory and licensure reform. Far too many people have their American Dream pulled out of reach due to red tape or an unwillingness to recognize the professional licensure of other states." His website can be accessed here.

83rd Assembly District

The 83rd Assembly District has been represented by Chuck Wichgers (R-Muskego) since 2017. Under the old map, Rep. Wichgers was last elected in 2020 with nearly 70% of the vote, defeating Democratic challenger Alan DeYoung.

Under the new legislative maps adopted by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, the 83rd AD was combined with parts of the 82nd AD and became more Republican leaning. Various analysis of the past voting performance of the new district rates this seat as +20 Republican.
