Rev. Christin Moreland is the first woman to serve as senior pastor and head of staff at Parma-South Presbyterian Church.
Born and raised in Erie, PA, Christin received her B.A. in Sociology/Anthropology with a minor in Religious Studies from Rockford University, where she was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. After earning her Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of New Mexico, Christin worked in Public Relations as a faith outreach professional in Albuquerque. Eventually, the call to serve in ministry led Christin to attend seminary at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where she earned her Master of Divinity.
After serving a small church in the northern Pittsburgh area for 3 years, she felt called to find a church that sought to become more community minded. The relationship between Christin and Parma-South Presbyterian Church began in October 2024, and she has hit the ground running! She’s enjoying getting to know her congregants, the community, and other leaders in the Parma, Parma Heights, and Seven Hills area.
When not planning worship, attending meetings, visiting congregants, or empowering committees, Christin is likely spending time with her cats (Gilgamesh and Enkidu), being creative (i.e., pottery, knitting, drawing, painting), or enjoying the creativity of others (film, theater, concerts). Christin also simply cannot pass up the opportunity to visit a good museum – the weirder the better!
Christin is proud to announce Parma-South’s first “Blessing of the Pets” to be held Saturday, October 4th at 11:00 (see ad below).

Cox Employees Award $15,000 to Local Nonprofits
Cox Communications employees have awarded a total of $15,000 in grants to three local nonprofits, through Cox Charities Community Investment Grants. The program provides employee funded grants of up to $5,000 to support a special program benefiting residents in the area. Earlier this year, organizations were invited to submit applications for funding. This year’s recipients of the Cox Charities Community Investment Grants are:
- LakewoodAlive – The Cox Charities grant will support Lakewood Alive’s Beds for Seniors Program providing low-income seniors who don’t have a proper bed—many sleep on chairs, couches, or the floor due to financial hardship. This program promotes aging with dignity and aligns with the Cox Charities Giving pillar of Equal Opportunity.
- The Littlest Heroes – This grant will provide immediate financial relief to families navigating the overwhelming realities of a childhood cancer diagnosis through the Heroes Family Fund program. Assistance is customized to meet each family’s most urgent needs, covering costs like housing, utilities, food, transportation to treatment, hospital-related expenses, and emergency childcare. This program aligns with the Cox Charities Giving pillar of Equal Opportunity.
-
West Creek Conservancy - The Cox Charities grant will teach residents across Cuyahoga and Lake counties how to turn their lawns into vibrant native gardens to improve soil health, reduce water use, support pollinators, and create habitats for birds and insects to thrive. This program aligns with the Cox Charities Giving Pillar of Environment and Sustainability.
“West Creek’s urban nursery, Creekside Collaborative Partners, is so named due to the multitude of partners who came together to bring the vision for a sustainable urban nursery to life,” said Kara Benninghofen, land manager with West Creek Conservancy. “With this award of funding, Cox has become one of the dynamic network of partners who make what we do possible. Funds will support the expansion of the West Creek’s Shrink Your Lawn & Native Seed Program, which engages Northeast Ohio community members in ecological restoration and sustainable landscaping practices both at Creekside Collaborative and in their own backyards.”
Cox Charities is a charitable giving initiative of Cox Communications fully funded by Cox employees and business partners. The funds raised are then invested annually as Cox Charities Community Investment Grants to organizations that align with our focus areas of youth innovation programs focused on science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM); conservation and sustainability initiatives; and equal opportunity. A total of $315,000 is being awarded to 63 grant recipients throughout Cox’s East Region.
“Supporting our community isn’t just part of our job, it’s who we are at Cox. Whether it’s our employees giving money from their own pockets to fund these local nonprofit grants, or rolling up our sleeves to volunteer, our team shows up with heart and purpose,” said Steve Iannazzi, Cox Cleveland market leader, and Parma Area Chamber of Commerce Board Member. “This community means a lot to us, and I’m incredibly proud of how our employees continue to make a real difference every day.”
