Course Overview:
This two-hour webinar is designed to provide investigators with a starting point to successfully investigate cold cases involving homicide. Helpful available resources, proven best practices and effective methodology are explored. The material from world leading cold case experts offered during the webinar is content based and evidence driven. The course will include proven strategies and helpful insights from Joe Kennedy. Kennedy is considered one of the world’s leading experts in cold case investigations and heads up Carolinas Cold Case Coalition, actively investigating over 200 homicide cold cases across the country. Joe has helped establish cold case units in eight nations and investigated homicides in over 51 countries.
This Webinar provides golden nuggets from his and other experts’ methodology and provides an overview of his book, (Solving Cold Cases, Investigation Techniques and Protocol, 2023). The latest investigative steps available will be introduced and various investigative tools evaluated.
Recent technological advancements and forensic techniques are reviewed. As the Cold Case Investigator for our agency, personal challenges to cold case homicide investigations will be included and the case-studies presented are from a “lessons learned” perspective.
The utilization of non-traditional investigative strategies, undercover scenarios, and the concept of extracting vital details from old case files will be incorporated. Upon completion, investigators will be better equipped to address unresolved homicides and confidently prioritize which cold cases may have higher chances with solvability.
