Cold Stone Creamery to open October 2 in Williston
Wiliston Herald - Summer may be over, but ice cream is a year-round treat, and a big-name in the frozen treat game is opening up this weekend in Williston. Cold Stone Creamery was one of six STAR Fund projects approved by the Williston City Commission in Nov 2019. Jonas and Bonnita McKenzie are bringing the well-known ice cream franchise Cold Stone Creamery to Williston, and were approved for a Flex PACE grant not to exceed $35,000 for purchase of the franchise, with a total investment of about $400,000. Williston named 2020 City of the Year
Williston Herald - Williston was officially named 2020 City of the Year by the North Dakota League of Cities during the League’s 2020 Virtual Annual Conference, Sept. 25. The announcement was made previously by Mayor Howard Klug at the Tuesday, Aug 25 meeting of the Williston City Commission. "This is not to be taken lightly," Klug told the Williston Herald. "(Williston) is in the running with Fargo, Grand Forks, Minot, Bismarck, on and on. All the board members vote on it, and they're from all parts of the state. So I'm very proud of what we've accomplished in the last year and looking forward to hoisting another banner." Read More
City of Williston provides Road Construction Update
City of Williston News Release - The following are new progress updates regarding ongoing construction projects throughout the City of Williston. 16th Avenue West & 26th Street Preparation for road striping of the 16th Avenue West and 26th Street intersection and as well as the fully paved 16th Avenue extension began on Tuesday, September 29. Road striping starts on Wednesday, September 30 with landscaping operations ongoing. Permanent signage will follow shortly after. Read More
Wold to represent North Dakota at "Made in America" Showcase
Williston Herald - A local artist is heading to Washington, D.C. to represent the state during this year’s “Made in America” showcase at the White House. Eddie Wold’s work can be seen all over Williston, hanging in businesses, restaurants and offices. A Williston native, Wold took an interest in art at a young age, and has been making a successful career as an artist for nearly a decade, when he began creating unique pieces for his wife’s coffee shop, Meg-A-Latte. EDND Fall Conference October 5
EDND News Release - EDND will be hosting its Fall Conference in conjunction with the Main Street Initiative Summit on Oct. 6-7. The EDND Fall Conference on Oct. 5 includes a partner update, legislative discussion, roundtables, and a Basic Training Module about strategic planning from the Develop This! podcasters. Attendees will have to register separately for the Main Street Summit on Oct. 6-7, which will include an economic development focused track planned by EDND. Attendees registered for both the virtual summit and the EDND Fall Conference will be able to attend the Main Street Summit in person at no additional charge. Read More
Commerce releases Final Details for Main Street Summit October 6-7
Commerce News Release - North Dakota Department of Commerce has announced the release of the final details for the breakout sessions and speakers for the 2020 Main Street ND Summit, held virtually Oct. 6-7. Commerce, in partnership with the Economic Development Association of North Dakota, the North Dakota Council on the Arts and Prairie Family Business Association, will host this year’s virtual summit with the theme of Building Resilient Communities.
