Roses are red, violets are blue, Spring's not quite here yet, but there's plenty to look forward to! Hang in there, February may be frigid, but there's definitely a few spots of warmth to embrace. Enjoy some Valentine's Day treats with your favorite people (Check out the cupcakes featured below), cozy up with a warm blanket and a good book, or make time for a game night with family. Even though Punxsutawney Phil says 6 more weeks of winter, we can make the most of what's left of the icy days keeping many of us indoors. Our teams have been breaking ground on new projects, and we're confident that Spring flowers will be popping up through frosty mornings soon!
Much like maintaining the good relationships in our lives, your lawn needs routine TLC to thrive! A regular fertilization schedule from April to November will create healthy and vibrant turf.
For worry-free lawn-care, join our turf management program that includes six rounds of fertilization treatment with features to combat specific problems throughout the year. From pre-emergent to prevent crabgrass, to broad-leaf treatments to eliminate dandelions and grubs, and treatments for over the cold season, we cover a lot of ground (pun intended) so you don't have to. Contact us to get on our fertilization schedule today!

Congratulations to our Crew of the Month: Dillon and Robert!!
This month we are honoring Crew Leader Dillon Duke and Crew Member Robert Deane as our Crew of the Month! These two don't shy away from learning new techniques to complete projects and adapt quickly to new processes. Dillon spearheads projects by communicating goals clearly and keeps the team posted on any issues that arise with materials. Robert is always quick to step in and tackle any task. Between their initiative and team mentality, they reliably complete projects with integrity and punctuality. While recently completing a project in Whiteland, they set a base of 500 tons of gravel in a week!
Please help us in congratulating Dillon and Robert as our February Crew of the Month!
We're not trying to play hard to get, but we do want to let you know we're booking up quickly! Right now, many of our 2021 projects have projected finish dates of late Summer to early Autumn. Keep in mind larger projects will have longer timelines, so it's best to plan ahead. There are still spaces available if you're interested in enhancing your yard by starting a project with us, but let us know soon.
Not to mention, an enhanced backyard oasis would make a perfect Valentine's gift for the Grill Master of the family!

Black-Bottom Cupcakes
These chocolate cupcakes with mascarpone filling require a bit of work but make for mouth-watering, rich bites of deliciousness. Plus, the simple glazed top is a perfect base for kids to get creative and decorate with Valentine's goodies.

For the Cake Batter:
  • ½ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup natural cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

For the Filling:
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • ½ cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips

For the Chocolate Glaze:
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • ¾ cup (1½ sticks) unsalted butter, cut into 6 pieces
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Preheat the Oven to 350°F. Line two standard 12-cup cupcake tins with paper cupcake liners.

To make the filling:
In a medium bowl, cream together the mascarpone, confectioners’ sugar, egg, salt, and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Stir in the chocolate chips.
To Make the Cake Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. In a 2-cup measuring cup, combine the boiling water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the liquid ingredients. Stir together until smooth.
Fill Each Cupcake Cup One-Fourth Full of Batter and Top With a Heaping Tablespoon or So of the Filling; divide it evenly and use it all. Top the filling with the remaining batter, dividing it evenly. Bake until cupcakes are puffed and firm, about 25 to 28 minutes.

Meanwhile, Make the Glaze
Combine all the ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove from the microwave and stir until smooth. If the chocolate is not completely melted, continue to microwave for 30-second intervals and stir until smooth.

Transfer the Cupcakes in the Pans to a Wire Rack and Let Cool Completely. When cool, dip the top of each cupcakes in the chocolate glaze (feel free to double dip, if you like!). Let the excess glaze drip from the cupcakes for a few seconds and then place the cupcake right-side up on the wire rack until the glaze firms up before serving.
