Dear Paul Penna DJDS Community,

With cold and flu season in full swing and the current Coronavirus so prominent in the news, we would like to reassure you that the health and wellness of our community is always a top priority.  Linked here is an information letter published by the Ministry of Health for school communities which provides some clarification on the nature of the virus as well as some helpful resources .

We will continue to reinforce health habits at school with all students, especially with respect to hand-washing.  We would also like to remind parents about school protocols around student illness as outlined in the Parent Handbook:

When your child is ill :
Students should not be sent to school if the parent suspects a developing illness or if the student has symptoms of a contagious illness such as a fever, vomiting, cough, and/or sore throat.   If your child becomes ill at school, you will be notified. Please have arrangements in place so that if your child is sick, he or she can be picked up promptly.

In order to safeguard the health and safety of our community, students should be free from fever and/or vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school from an illness.  If your child is diagnosed with a communicable illness, please notify the school immediately.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
