CHAMBER UPDATES | JANUARY 30, 2024

Chamber Members and Investors-

January may have been the fastest month on record. Not the coldest, maybe the rainiest, but it certainly was the FASTEST! The month just flew past; it was just New Year's Day, and we were making our New Year's resolutions; here it is February already...where did the month go?

In years past, I would be happy that January was behind us because it meant that we were that much closer to pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training and one month closer to Spring. However, with so many activities going on in February that are now upon us, the Colerain Chamber must make it happen.

Our Annual Awards Dinner celebration which recognizes 15 businesses/individuals that have stood out this year will happen Thursday, February 15th. We will award the two Business Students of the Year through Butler Tech, and we are excited to induct Jeff Webeler and Gary Schroeder to the Colerain Business Hall of Fame that evening. I hope that you are able to register for the event and join us as we celebrate the Chamber's 10th anniversary as well.

The Leadership Summit, Wednesday, February 14th will allow you, as business leaders, to learn from incredible presenters about a wide range of topics. We hope that you and/or your leadership will plug into this series (highlighted below) with a 90-minute investment of your time. There is no cost for this program which makes the return on investment (your time) incredibly good.

Finally, we have partnered with Colerain Township, Northwest Local Schools, and Cincy Magazine to bring forth a Colerain community publication, which will be produced later this Spring. If you have an interest in supporting this endeavor through advertising (between now and February 24th), please watch for more communication, or reach out to me directly. There is a discounted rate available for Colerain Chamber members and plenty of room to share why Colerain is an incredible place to live, work and play. Don't miss out on this rare opportunity.

If you have any questions/suggestions or want to learn more about how best your team can take advantage of the chamber services, please reach out to me or Beth directly.

All the best!

Dave

TEAM UP TO GREEN UP ~ COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY AWARD

Congratulations to MWG Metalworking Group, 9070 Pippin, for being Awarded the Team Up to Green Up Community Sustainability Award! They are proud to support the Green Energy industry by manufacturing frames, brackets, stands, weldments, and assemblies for industrial particle separation equipment for organizations that manufacture separation equipment to help make the planet safe and sustainable.

MWG has invested in their facility with smart-controlled LED lighting system inside the shop. The efficiency is amazing, by reducing the carbon footprint, and the energy they need for lighting by over 50% compared to their previous lighting!

Also in their facility, they have recycled 55-gallon drums into chip collectors for their machines. Once the drums are filled, depending on what type of metal is in the drum (Aluminum, Stainless Steel, or Metal), they dump the scrap into open-top containers in the rear of their facility. Those containers are then taken by COHEN Recycling to be melted down. The material is used again in the market for new metal products.

As empty cardboard boxes are created from unpacking production parts, employees take the boxes to a cardboard baler. The baler creates 500-pound bales that are taken to COHEN Recycling. Finally, many pallets from the shipping department are recycled. The used pallets are collected and taken to other businesses that will reuse them.

We applaud MWG for all the steps they have taken to make their business more sustainable. Pictured is Bill Mondillo, Safety/Facilities Manager, Lora Dakin, Team Up To Green Up and Doug Watts, CEO
