CHAMBER UPDATES | JUNE 29, 2023
Community Members-

I don't get a great deal of feedback about this portion of my newsletter each month. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but I suppose those who read it and get something from it are seeing its value. Those who skip my insights are more likely to find the section below that is of interest to them. Back in the day, my grandparents got the Sunday Chicago Tribune and we would often be at their house for the day. I would grab the sport section, my sister would grab the comics, my grandfather would grab the classified section which had the obituaries in it; you see, he sold caskets and was on the lookout to see which funeral home might call him on Monday.

If you've gotten to paragraph two, I suppose that means you're at least interested to hear what my point is, which is this: The Colerain Chamber of Commerce newsletter is broken up into sections so that you can simply skip to the events or pieces that are most attractive to you. If you're a woman, you may be drawn to learn more about our Women's Networking luncheon. If you're in sales, maybe the Sales Summit is of interest. If you're considering joining the chamber, we hope that you'll see those that continue to choose to join our chamber as a reminder that large companies like Rumpke and Kroger support us, as do so many businesses with less than 10 employees.

If you get the opportunity to read our newsletter top to bottom, the narrative we continue to tell is that if you do business in and around Colerain, if your business is located here, or if you want get involved with the community, this is the place to "hang your hat" so-to-speak. There are so many things to do in the coming months, I'll just mention a few.
  • Our 2nd Annual Vintage 1869 Rules Baseball game will be played in just a couple of days. You can read about that below.
  • After the game, myself and four other community leaders will be in a dunk tank during the Fourth of July event at the township. Stop by and throw a ball to dunk me!
  • Vinoklet Winery will be the host of our monthly Third Thursday networking event. Come out and meet other chamber members and see what we're all about.
  • Friday August 4th we will be on the Ohio River through an excursion on the BB Riverboats (also a member) for an evening of fun. Many spouses and significant others attend this event, which gives it a very social feel.
  • August 9th is our Community Back to School event which provides support to families in need that have kids starting school
  • In September we host our Police & Fire Appreciation Breakfast to say THANK YOU to those who serve our community as first responders.
  • October has two major events including our Community Give Back Day and our Live2Lead Leadership event hosted at Mercy West Hospital. Business leaders considering membership are welcome at both of these events; community participation is encouraged!

As always, we suggest taking the chamber for a test-drive by getting to meet others and hearing their stories of success. 2024 marks our 10th Anniversary so there will be so much more to come!

CHAMBER & COMMUNITY UPDATES
COLERAIN HIGH SCHOOL'S 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Colerain High School will be celebrating its 100th anniversary during the 2023 – 2024 school year. Since its first class in 1925, more than 32,000 students have graduated from Colerain. The Class of 2024 will be the 100th graduating class.

The Colerain Boosters and Alumni Association have formed a committee to plan events throughout the coming year that highlight the rich history of the school. From academics to performing arts to athletics, Colerain’s students have excelled and brought notoriety to the school and community over the years. Alumni have used their education in many ways as they entered the workforce, served in the military or continued their education in college. Regardless of the path chosen, the common thread for each graduate was the solid foundation and support provided by their dedicated teachers, counselors, coaches and administrators.

To bring attention to this milestone in the community, the committee is working with Colerain Township to produce banners that will be displayed on the light posts at the intersection of Colerain Avenue and Springdale Road. The banners will highlight academic, performing arts, athletic and career accomplishments of Colerain students and alumni. The Boosters are soliciting local businesses to assist with the cost of the banners and to become a partner in celebrating the school’s centennial graduating class.

Listed below are examples of the events that will be held:

Centennial Celebration Kickoff - Tuesday, August 8
Athletic Hall of Fame Induction - Friday, September 1
Distinguished Graduate Recognition - Friday, September 15
Cornerstone 100th Anniversary Commemoration - Sunday, October 1
Open House - Thursday, April 19, 2024

When asked about it, Colerain Chamber President Dave Moravec said, "I personally believe that the chamber had a direct effect on the team play. I don't know what else would have been different other than our group showing up for the Red's support."
