Eleven Projects in Progress!
Project Spotlight: Gilgal

On August 20, volunteers joined us for a HomeAid Care Day at Gilgal to kick off a renovation project! Our friends from Vincent Longo Custom Builders, HB NEXT, and Quantum National Bank spent the day working hard on several big projects around the home.

Care Day volunteers performed demolition in the kitchen, removing cabinets and countertops, installed new lighting and flooring, painted, took down wood railings on the front porch, fixed a fence and rid the grounds of many unwanted and unused items. Gilgal provides housing and programs for women overcoming drug addiction and homelessness.

Another Care Day is scheduled for August 28, with volunteers from Whitefield Academy.

Floor and Decor, CR Home, and Founders Kitchen & Bath are providing donations and deep discounts of materials for this project.

Vince Longo of Vincent Longo Custom Builders is leading this renovation project, which is expected to run through the next couple of weeks. Vince and his company have generously volunteered to cover remaining costs after donations for this project.
Volunteer Opportunity: Veterans Project
We're looking for an architect to take these plans and fully develop them into construction drawings. Drawings will include the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) engineering plans in order to establish a budget and apply for a permit to house up to 40 veterans experiencing homelessness in partnership with our project at the Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program.

Volunteer Spotlight: Ronnie Cline
Because of longtime HomeAid supporters like Ronnie Cline, Taylor Morrison Area Construction Manager, HomeAid Atlanta continues to make a positive impact toward ending homelessness in metro Atlanta.

In 2016, Ronnie was integral to our Care Day at Phoenix Pass in Conyers. He and the CalAtlantic Homes team installed cabinets for HomeAid’s eight-unit apartment building. The following year, Ronnie and CalAtlantic again assisted HomeAid with major support for a HomeAid Care Project - a renovation of Haven ATL’s drop-in center. Haven ATL, a program of the Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta, serves women who are victims of commercial sexual exploitation.

Ronnie moved to Taylor Morrison Atlanta in 2018, and once again stepped up to help. He led volunteers during a Care Day to complete demolition in preparation for HomeAid’s renovation of The Drake Village at The Drake House, which now provides longer-term housing for single mothers and their children transitioning out of homelessness.

Ronnie and Taylor Morrison continue to partner with HomeAid at North Georgia Angel House (NGAH), a Canton home for girls and young women in, and transitioning from, foster care. In keeping with the yearly tradition, in 2019 Ronnie and his team completed a total kitchen remodel at NGAH, oversaw additional repairs, and performed major landscaping upgrades and flooding remediation. Realizing there was more work to do, in 2020, Ronnie and Taylor Morrison returned to NGAH to complete a bathroom renovation. Currently, Taylor Morrison, through Ronnie’s leadership, is co-Builder Captain for HomeAid’s transformation of a metal storage unit into tiny apartments for young women aging out of foster care at NGAH, in partnership with New River Building Company.

Thank you, Ronnie, for your dedication and leadership in support of HomeAid Atlanta! We are grateful for your continued involvement, wonderful attitude, and dedication to helping people in need.
