The unprecedented events of the past several months, first the pandemic and now civil unrest triggered by an episode of police brutality, have profoundly impacted all of our lives. These events highlight the impact that race has in health outcomes and access to resources. As a public health organization working to promote healthy lifestyles across DuPage County, FORWARD DuPage will continue to engage in and contribute to community discussions regarding racial injustice as we work collectively to interrupt these oppressive systems.

FORWARD DuPage’s mission is to improve the health of all our community members with an emphasis on communities that have had limited access to resources because of societal inequities. There has and continues to be a disproportionate burden of COVID-19 cases and deaths among African American and Latino communities in DuPage County. This reality is a renewed call for us to work collaboratively with communities of color to achieve health equity by addressing these avoidable current and historical inequalities and focus on the elimination of health disparities.

We are committed to deepening our role to fight for an equitable DuPage County where everyone, regardless of economic status, race, nationality, or religion, can live their healthiest and fullest lives.

Together we can all make a difference.

Sincerely,
