Message from Jude+

I’ve been reading the last entries in our Lenten Devotional Booklet, and I want to thank everyone who wrote reflections for it. I know it can be nerve wracking to “go public” and express yourself in writing for all to see! You have given the rest of us such a gift as we reflect on your reflections!

Below is information about the services for Holy Week and specific instructions for how to participate, but Holy Week is about more than the services, which, of course, we hope will be meaningful.

So much of our worship is rightly communal, but Holy Week is a solo journey. It is also a choice. It is a chance to walk through those last days with Jesus, imagining, praying, thinking and experiencing the entrance into Jerusalem, the Last Supper, the trial, torture and crucifixion of the man we call Lord, and the utter, world changing experience of His resurrection. So, I wish you a very holy Holy Week.

Drive-through Holy Communion
We are still offering drive-through Holy Communion on Sunday mornings - the times are 11:30 to noon. Please RSVP to Jude+ either by text 310-701-5966 or email.
Speaking of Holy Week – mark your calendars for Thursday, April 1st at 7:00 p.m. for a Maundy Thursday service where we bless and share bread, wine or other beverage, and a light meal together, as Jesus did with his friends at the Last Supper. Maundy Thursday begins the Triduum, the three holy days of Easter. Let's begin that journey together, as part of the family of St. Francis, by sharing in this beautiful service and meal.

Now is the time to check out Youth Group!

Every Sunday evening throughout this pandemic, our Youth Group at St. Francis has been meeting in Zoom starting at 4:00pm.

Our discussion topics change every week. Look at our posts on Facebook and Instagram, to get a feel for the types of subjects we have previously covered. But some of our best conversations happen during open discussion sessions.

If you are a teenager or know one, please let them know we want them to join us! Maintaining connections during this time of social distancing is hard. It goes without saying that everyone is tired of Zoom and wants to return to in-person events. But Joy and I are here to listen to the issues and questions teenagers have about anything and everything important in their lives, secular and spiritual.

Youth Group takes a hiatus during the Summer, but we still have nine more sessions before then. Now is a great time to jump in and connect with other teens from St. Francis before the Summer break.

All teenagers (6th grade through 12th grade) are welcome to join. Invite your friends—the more the merrier! If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact me directly by email or phone.
