Collective Bargaining Agreements Approved

During the June 14, 2018 Regularly Scheduled Board of Education Meeting, the Washington Unified School District (WUSD) Board of Trustees approved the Tentative Agreements with the West Sacramento Teachers Association (WSTA) and the Classified School Employees Association (CSEA).

We are pleased to share this information with our community and express our eagerness to begin the 2018-19 school year in strong collaboration with all of our dedicated teachers and staff ensuring our students are on the right path for success.

Agreement Highlights with WSTA

  • Salary enhancements for the next three (3) years.

  • 2.4%, 1.2%, 1.1% + Contingency language ensuring a fair share of any new money from provided state finances in the out years.

  • The compensation agreement was, in part, an acknowledgement of the increasing costs of retiree health benefits & STRS.

  • Increased and added stipends for academics, athletics, support providers, mentors, clubs, performing groups, and district-wide overnight events (6th grade camp).

  • Increased the number of professional learning opportunities for staff to collaboratively develop practices that improve outcomes for students.

  • Increased to the amount of time TK-3rd grade teachers have to prepare for the high quality instruction.

  • Collective Bargaining Agreement language revisions that will increase the understanding of agreements made between both teams.

  • Improved orientation procedures to ensure new staff receive a quality start.


Agreement Highlights with CSEA

  • Salary enhancements for the next three (3) years.

  • 2.0%, 1.5%, 1% + Contingency language ensuring a fair share of any new money from provided state finances in the out years.

  • The compensation agreement was, in part, an acknowledgement of the increasing costs of retiree health benefits & PERS.

  • Added a column to the salary chart providing further salary growth for our more veteran staff. 

  • Added stipend for staff holding an AA degree in order to encourage continued educational opportunities to build capacity.

  • Three (3)-year contract with no openers for salary or benefits. Limited openers to non-monetary articles for ’19-’20 only.

  • Agreed to limited vacation pay-outs and provided path to pay-outs of large accruals of overtime.

  • Continued funding to offer professional learning opportunities in all job classifications.

  • Agreed to a systematic approach for reviewing and updating job descriptions.

  • Collective Bargaining Agreement language revisions that will increase the understanding of agreements made between the parties.
